Investigation underway following assault in Colchester
We were called following reports of an assault in Colchester.
Specialist officers attended and found an injured man on Tamarisk Way, on the Greenstead Estate. Ambulance colleagues were also at the scene. The man, who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his leg. His injuries are not thought to be life‑changing at this stage.
Officers have begun an investigation and are working to understand what happened before the incident and have now released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.
We know this will be worrying for people who live nearby and for the wider community. There will be extra patrols in the area to provide reassurance. Residents are encouraged to speak with officers if they have any information or concerns – officers will be there to listen and offer support. Anyone who witnessed what happened and has not yet spoken to police is urged to come forward.
Anyone with information, CCTV, dash‑cam or other footage is asked to contact us.

Public space protection order
Over the last week we have seen an increase in reports around vehicle related anti social behaviour. In Colchester we have a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) which prohibits some behaviour attributed to anti social behaviour in Colchester. The Vehicle PSPO is not about stopping people enjoying their cars and it’s not aimed at responsible drivers. It’s there to help us tackle behaviours that cause distress or risk to others, such as excessive engine noise, repeated driving around the same areas, dangerous manoeuvres or gatherings that impact people’s ability to feel safe.
If you’re driving considerately and lawfully, this PSPO won’t affect you.
We know that cars and car culture are important to many people, and we want Colchester to be a place where everyone can enjoy public spaces safely — whether you’re driving, living, working or visiting.
This post is so people enjoying Colchester can be aware of the PSPO and ensure their plans and behaviour while in the area comply with the PSPO.
Read about the PSPO in the link below.

 Crime prevention advice
Vehicle crime can happen anywhere, but a few simple steps can help reduce the risk.
Always lock your car, even if you’re only leaving it briefly, and never leave valuables or bags on show.
If you have keyless entry, keep your keys away from doors and windows and store them in a signal‑blocking pouch, also known as a faraday pouch.
Park in well‑lit or busy places where possible and use extra security like a steering wheel lock if you can.
If you see anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles, report it to us via 101 or Live Chat, or call 999 in an emergency.
Be fraud smart
As people book holidays or buy tickets for events, fraudsters are trying to trick them out of their money. Scams can include fake holiday accommodation, tickets that don’t exist or turn out to be invalid, and sellers asking for payment by bank transfer.
To stay safe, always book holidays and tickets through trusted websites, avoid paying by bank transfer, use a credit card where possible, and be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true. Check reviews, double‑check sellers are genuine, and if you think you’ve been scammed, contact your bank straight away and report it to Action Fraud.
