Joint patrols to tackle Anti-Social Behaviour
Officers from Colchester's Neighbourhood Policing Team and Colchester City Council Zone wardens have been undertaking joint patrols across the city centre to reduce Anti Social Behaviour and to continue to work in partnership to resolve issues within the area.
During the patrols the team engaged with numerous members of the public, dealt with matters of anti social behaviour in the area and as a direct result of the patrols, a number of stop and searches were complete where drugs were found, seized and the offenders dealt with.
Over the coming weeks you will see our officers working with the neighbourhood wardens, conducting patrols and dealing with matters within the city centre, when you see them be sure to stop and say hello.

Road safety operation results in arrest.
Last week Colchester's City Centre Team conducted a vehicle check point aimed at improving safety and compliance on our roads.

- One vehicle was seized after the rider was found to have no insurance. - Two stop searches were carried out. - One juvenile male was arrested.
These proactive patrols help us keep Colchester safe for residents, businesses, and visitors.

 Crime prevention advice
Leaving valuables on show in your vehicle can attract the attention of opportunistic thieves. If a thief can see something worth taking or even suspects valuables might be hidden inside your vehicle can quickly become a more appealing target.
Where possible, take items such as sat navs, mobile phones, bags and charging cables with you when you leave the car.
To help reduce the risk, always lock your car, close windows fully, and keep the interior clear. If you do need to leave items behind, store them out of sight in the boot before you reach your destination. Parking in well‑lit, busy areas where possible can also help deter criminal activity.
Be fraud smart
Never send money or share financial details with someone you have never met in person.
Romance fraudsters are skilled storytellers. Once they believe they’ve gained your trust, they may often introduce a sudden crisis or dramatic story to pressure you into acting quickly.
If a request for money appears, end the conversation and report the profile. If you’ve already sent money or shared details, contact your bank immediately. Banks are experienced in dealing with fraud and can help protect you.
