Neighbourhood Policing Team supports road safety education at Hatfield Heath Primary School
Officers from our Neighbourhood Policing Team partnered with Safer Essex Roads to deliver an important road safety session to pupils at Hatfield Heath Primary School. As part of the visit, a speed check was carried out outside the school. When motorists were found exceeding the limit, they were stopped and escorted to a safe area where the children had the opportunity to speak to them directly about the dangers of speeding and the impact it can have on their community. During the check, five drivers were stopped and engaged by the pupils, who confidently explained why driving at excessive speeds puts lives at risk. The interaction provided a powerful reminder to motorists while giving the children valuable insight into road safety and responsible driving.
Pam’s Place and Great Dunmow Town Council become safe spaces in Uttlesford
Pam’s Place and Great Dunmow Town Council have now become official Safe Spaces in Uttlesford following the completion of the J9 Domestic Abuse Awareness Training. Several other community organisations also took part in the training, including the Thaxted Parish Council, Thaxted Primary School, and local shop Gifted to raise their awareness. The J9 training does not expect participants to fix situations or act as specialist support workers. Instead, it equips them to respond with empathy, offer understanding, and encourage individuals to access professional help and support.
 Stolen vehicle recovered in Felsted
A utility vehicle stolen from within the district has been successfully recovered in the Felsted area. The vehicle has now been secured and will be returned to its rightful owner. Incidents involving the theft of agricultural, utility, and off road vehicles continue to be a concern across our rural communities. Our teams work closely with residents, landowners, and rural businesses to deter thefts and ensure stolen property is returned as quickly as possible. Patrols remain active across the district, and investigations into this incident are ongoing.
Officers visit Thaxted Primary’s reception class
Town Officer PC McNamara briefly stepped off his beat to join PC Mabey at Thaxted Primary School. They were invited to speak with the lovely Reception class, who were extremely well‑behaved and full of brilliant questions. The children especially enjoyed watching their teachers bravely volunteer to demonstrate the use of police handcuffs. A big thank you to Thaxted Primary for having us. We always enjoy spending time with our youngest community members and helping them learn more about the role of the police.
