 Great Dunmow Carnival
Officers from the Uttlesford Neighbourhood Policing Team joined forces with Essex Special Constables at this year’s Dunmow Carnival. Throughout the day the team supported the event, helping to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Children and adults alike had the opportunity to try on police uniform, collect stickers, and engage with officers who were on hand to answer questions. It was a fantastic chance to connect with such a wide range of residents and visitors.
Great Easton Pupils Take Action to Promote Road Safety
Pupils from Great Easton Primary School took to the streets this week to help make their community safer by participating in School Speed Watch an initiative designed to promote road safety and responsible driving near schools. Year 5 pupils teamed up with our Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Safer Essex Roads Partnership to raise awareness around safe travel to and from school. After learning about the dangers of speeding, the pupils joined officers in conducting real-time speed checks outside their school. Drivers found exceeding the limit were stopped in a safe location and spoken to by the children themselves. The pupils asked drivers why they were speeding near a school and reminded them of the risks their actions posed to young lives.

 Crime prevention advice
If you've been out drinking, you may still be affected by alcohol the next day and could lose your licence if you drive and are still over the legal limit. It's impossible to get alcohol out of your system quickly, it always takes time. A shower, a cup of coffee or other ways of ‘sobering up’ may make you feel better but won’t remove the alcohol from your system.
Be fraud smart
Reusing the same password means criminals only need to steal one of your passwords in order to get into many of your accounts. Help keep your digital life secure by using different passwords & making sure they are as unique as you are.

I've got social, domestic and pleasure insurance on my car- That covers me to and from work doesn't it?
It's a mistake to assume that your car insurance automatically covers you to drive to and from work. In order to use your car in this way your policy must cover you for commuting purposes. This is often referred to as social, domestic, pleasure and commuting cover.
Additionally, commuting cover will only allow you to drive to/from your usual place of work. If you use your vehicle to go to a meeting, conference or seminar etc. whilst at work you will require business cover.
If you are unsure whether your car insurance includes this, you will need to check your insurance certificate and policy documents. Then, if you are still uncertain, contact your insurer and clarify the matter with them.
If you are stopped by the police and they have reasonable grounds to believe your insurance isn't valid, they can seize your car and you can be prosecuted. The penalty for using a vehicle without insurance is a £300 fixed penalty and 6 penalty points or if the matter goes to court, an unlimited fine and 6 to 8 penalty points.
