Uttlesford neighbourhood policing team joins VE Day celebrations

This significant event was commemorated with various activities and engagements aimed at honouring the sacrifices made during the war and fostering community spirit.
PC McNamara visits Saffron Walden Primary School
PC Ryan McNamara recently visited St Thomas More Primary School to speak with the children about his role in the community. As a familiar face in Saffron Walden, often seen on foot patrol, PC McNamara's visit was a wonderful opportunity for the children to build trust and learn more about the important work the local police do.
During his visit, PC McNamara answered a variety of questions from the children, who were eager to learn about his daily duties. The children were able to see and explore the police equipment and the prison van, which provided a hands-on learning experience.
 Crime prevention in Lindsell
Officers on patrol in Lindsell were pleased to see new signage in the village following the distribution of Selecta DNA kits to the local community. Last year, PCSO Nat Smith and Mike O'Donnell Smith organised a property marking event where free DNA kits were issued and registered to the residents of Lindsell. This initiative was in response to concerns about rural crime.
 E-Scooters
The Saffron Walden town team have received concerns about the use of E-scooters. E-Scooters are classed as motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Act 1988. This means the rules that apply to motor vehicles, also apply to e-scooters including the need to have a licence and insurance. We encourage all residents to be aware of the law around the use of E-Scooters in public.

Someone has parked their car and it is blocking my driveway, what shall I do?
If the vehicle is blocking access to your driveway you should first make enquiries with the neighbours to see if they know who the car belongs to, so they can move it.
In most areas local councils have now taken on responsibility for enforcing parking provisions under what is known as Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE). Under CPE, it's an offence to park a vehicle that blocks a dropped kerb driveway. You can check if your local council has taken on CPE via Gov.uk - CPE List. If your council has taken on CPE, you will usually need to report vehicles that are obstructing a dropped kerb directly to them.
If your local council hasn't taken on CPE, you will need to contact your local police force.
The police/council policy for dealing with such matters may vary between forces/councils. Some police forces may only attend if your car has been blocked in and you cannot get out.
