 Vehicle seized - No insurance
Officers from the community policing team have seized a vehicle for having no insurance in Saffron Walden. In addition to the vehicle being seized, this motorist was reported for driving offences, which may result in a fine and points on their licence.
It's illegal to drive a vehicle on a road or in a public place without at least third-party insurance. Even if the vehicle itself is insured, if you’re not correctly insured to drive it you could be considered to be driving without insurance and could get penalised.
 DNA property marking - Lindsell
PCSOs Mike O'Donnell Smith and Nat Smith have visited Lindsell providing advice and information about property marking and crime prevention. The team were offering residents specialist property marking kits that have been funded by the Uttlesford Community Safety Partnership, these kits mark items with a type of DNA that links the property to the owner. Nat and Mike registered the kits with the residents to ensure the items are recorded on the national data base.
Stolen horse riding equipment - Recovered
The rural engagement team recovered numerous items of horse-riding equipment in Little Dunmow over the weekend following a call from a member of the public. Using what3words the team were able to locate, recover and reunite the items with the rightful owner. The equipment had been stolen from the Braintree area.
Property marking is a simple and effective way to protect your belongings. It makes your possessions far less attractive to thieves and it reduces the potential to sell items on. Should the worst happen, and your items are stolen, when they are found they can be returned to you quickly.

 Naeem Shahani
Naeem Shahani of Sheppey Road, Dagenham, was jailed for two years four months and disqualified from driving for more than six years for a collision which led to the death of a woman when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday 28 November.
The 39-year-old had denied two charges - causing death by dangerous driving and serious injury by dangerous driving – which led to the death of Phyllis Willis, 84, from Braintree.
Naeem Shahani was working for a company offering airport “meet and greet” parking services for members of the public.
At approximately 3.20pm on Monday 26 September 2022, he was driving a customer’s Range Rover to Stansted airport when he was involved in a collision on Parsonage Road, Takeley.
Naeem Shahani lost control on a bend of the road and collided with a Mitsubishi Shogun travelling in the opposite direction.
The other driver spent almost two weeks in hospital after she sustained multiple injuries.
Sadly, front seat passenger, Phyllis, died at the scene.
Following an investigation by our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, Shahani was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and serious injury by dangerous driving. He pleaded not guilty to the offences and elected to stand trial.
He was found guilty of both offences at the conclusion of a five-day long trial at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday 25 October.
Alongside his six years and four months driving ban, Shahini was ordered to take an extended driving re-test.

Be fraud smart
When shopping online this festive season stay safe. Auction and online marketplaces are a great way to get a good deal. Most items are genuine, but fraudsters use these sites to offer high value items like electronics or designer goods.
Check the seller or buyer’s review history and feedback from other reviewers. Beware of accounts that may have been set up very recently with lots of favourable feedback that sounds similar.
