Partnership work to reduce anti social behaviour leads to arrest
Last week the community policing team undertook numerous partnership patrols with Colchester Borough Homes whereby they spoke to local residents and communities, listened to their problems and explained how they can work together to look to resolve these issues.
An example of this was following joint patrols in Shrub End information was given to the officers. This led to the team applying for and executing a warrant under the misuse of drugs act in the shrub end area.
A quantity of Class A and Class B drugs were recovered along with a large amount of cash and a prohibited weapon.
A 35 year old man from Colchester was charged and remanded to appear at court with an offence of possessing an offensive weapon in a private place. He was also bailed pending further enquiries into possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs.

Can you tell me about the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme also known as Claire's Law?
The Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme gives members of the public a formal mechanism to make enquires about an individual who they are in a relationship with or who is in a relationship with someone they know where there is a concern that the individual may be violent towards their partner. This information may be disclosed via a request from a member of the public (Right to Ask) or be initiated by the police where a proactive decision is made to disclose information in order to protect a potential victim (Right to Know).
