Antisocial behaviour patrols - Saffron Walden
PC Ryan McNamara has been on patrol in the Walden Place area of the town following reports of antisocial behaviour.
We understand the impact antisocial behaviour can have on not only an individual but an entire community too. This is why we will address any issues or concerns that you raise with us and work with our partners to find a solution or take proportionate action against those responsible where necessary.
But we need to know what is happening so that we can do something about it.

Crime prevention - Prevent tool theft from vans
Vans are often targeted by thieves for the tools stored inside. If you have to leave tools in a van overnight, it's a good idea to mark them clearly with your name / company name and address using paint pens and seal with a clear lacquer spray. Alternatively, you can use a variety of other property marking systems. Items that are clearly marked are less desirable and more difficult to sell on.
Consider using a lockable cabinet within your van to store tools – a number of security rated products are available. Small cameras are also designed to record inside vehicles.
Be fraud smart
Destroy and preferably shred receipts with your card details on and post with your name and address on. Identity fraudsters don’t need much information in order to be able to clone your identity.
There is a car on my road with no tax who do I contact?
You can report unlicensed vehicles online through the DVLA website, see website in related information.
You can also contact your local police (via 101) although the procedure will vary from force to force. In some areas you will have to contact the local authority direct as they have a responsibility to remove such vehicles. In other force areas you need to contact the local police force first who in turn will contact the local authority. Your local police station will be able to advise you.
In all cases you will need the make and model of the car, the registration number and the location.
