Drink drive arrests so far this month
So far this month, Roads Policing officers have arrested 96 drivers since our drink drive campaign was launched.
Chigwell: Appeal to trace jewellery and watches after burglary
We were called shortly after 11.50pm on Saturday 2 December to reports of a burglary in the Chigwell area.
It was reported suspects had gained entry to an address, before taking high-value items including jewellery and watches.
Man arrested on suspicion of theft of car
The owner of a Toyota car, who reported it stolen from outside their address in London in the early hours of Wednesday 6 December, was able to locate their vehicle in Waltham Abbey hours after it was stolen.
As they awaited police in Morris Court, an unknown man arrived, trying to gain access to the car which was by now on false plates. The car owner reported that he was assaulted and sustained a hand injury, as he tried to detain the man.
Upon police arrival, a 24-year-old man from Romford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft of vehicle, ABH and further arrested for going equipped.
Three vehicles seized in one day as part of crackdown on anti-social driving
In an effort to tackle anti-social driving across the county and to keep the roads in Essex safe, we issued notices to three drivers concerned in vehicle-related anti-social behaviour.
Anti-social use of a vehicle, such as street racing, cruising or off-road use is more than a matter of noise pollution, it can have a wider impact on a neighbourhood or community, resulting in serious consequences in the event of a collision.
Officers arrest another 24 on suspicion of shoplifting
And 15 were subsequently charged with theft offences and other related matters.
Six people were arrested in each of the Harlow and Southend districts between Monday 4 and Sunday 10 December for shop theft, three were arrested in each of the Colchester and Tendring districts and one in each of Basildon, Braintree, Castle Point, Chelmsford, Epping Forest and Thurrock.

Southend: Tribute to 'generous and kind' man after fatal collision
A friend has paid tribute to a “generous” man who shared his “kind spirit” with everyone he knew after a fatal collision in Southend.
We were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in Prittlewell Chase, Southend, at about 4.55pm on Wednesday 25 October.
75-year-old Colin Edwards. was taken to hospital where, sadly, he died on the morning of Thursday 26 October.

South Ockendon: Man jailed for 16 years for rape offences
A “dangerous sexual predator” has been jailed for 16 years following the work of our Adult Sexual Abuse Investigation Team.
Ricki Lee, 28 of Coronation Avenue, East Tilbury appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday, 7 December where he was sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of three counts of rape.
Lee was subject to separate investigations against two separate victims. In both cases, the victims reported that Lee had entered their bedroom and raped them whilst they slept in their own homes. The offences happened in 2019 and 2020 in South Ockendon and Benfleet.
Lee was charged and in October, following a two-week trial, he was found guilty of three counts of rape. He appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday, 7 December where he was sentenced to 16 years in prison. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Harlow: Pair arrested within 10 minutes of call after car break-ins
We received a call shortly after 1.50am on Monday 11 December reporting an ongoing theft in Fullers Mead, Harlow.
It was reported two people wearing balaclavas had gained access to a car, taking items from inside.
Our officers were on the scene within minutes, establishing suspects had left the area on foot and obtaining a description of them.
Two arrests were made by 2am, thanks to the quick work of Police Dog Trigger in tracking persons of interest from the scene.
Two bags of items, believed to be stolen goods, were also recovered.
