Officers are carrying out patrols in Gunners Park in Shoeburyness, following a sexual assault which was reported last Tuesday 17 October.

Dovercourt: plans approved for a new police station
Plans have been approved for a new police station in Dovercourt. This will see the old station commander’s house at the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service site in Fronks Road demolished and a new 21st century police station built.
Southend: Man charged as part of ongoing burglary investigation
Officers were called to an address on Charlotte Mews in Southend on Monday 16 October following reports of a burglary.
Albert Newton, 52 of York Road, Southend has since been charged with burglary dwelling as part of this investigation. He has been remanded into custody and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 18 October.

Grays: Abuser sentenced to 12 years in jail
Blaine Norton was sentenced to an additional two-and-a-half years on license at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday 12 October 2023. He was convicted of rape, actual bodily harm, and false imprisonment at the same court on 9 June. He will also be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Chigwell: Two arrested following serious collision
We are appealing for witnesses after officers were called to High Road in Chigwell shortly before 4pm on Tuesday 17 October following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 14-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Lee Kantor took thousands of pounds from the victim for his own use rather than investing it as he had promised.
Rayleigh: Appeal after assault outside high street pub
We are appealing for any information or dashcam footage after an assault in Rayleigh’s High Street.
 Stansted: Armed robbery at service station on Cambridge Road
Can you help identify these men, caught on CCTV shortly after 10.30pm on Wednesday 27 September? They entered the garage and threatened staff with a firearm and a knife before stealing cigarettes and alcohol.
Shoeburyness: Officers investigating sexual assault at Gunners Park
The victim was walking through the park with her dog when she was approached by a man. The man grabbed her by the arms and sexually assaulted her.The suspect ran away, and the victim was able to contact police. She is receiving support from our officers.
The suspect is described as a white man, around 5’8” tall with short, white thinning hair. He was of a larger build and believed to be in his late 50s. The suspect was wearing a blue coat or mac.
We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the Shoeburyness area on the morning of 17 October and witnessed anything to contact us, quoting incident number 308 of 17 October.

 This week we remember
William George Burnett
William Burnett preferred to be known as George and following his discharge from the Coldstream Guards, he joined Essex County Constabulary on July 1, 1911. He served at Brentwood and then Wickford and rejoined the colours as Lance Corporal in August 1914.
On 1 March 1916, the Chief Constable reported to the Police Authority;
‘Pc Burnett, on active service, has been missing since 29 October 1914 and the Army Council have accordingly informed his family that they have concluded he was killed on or after that date.’

Geoffrey Frost
The Chief Constable regrets to inform you of the sad death of our former colleague Geoffrey Frost who retired as a Constable and served 30 years at Corringham and Grays. He passed away on 30 September aged 76 years. No funeral is taking place.
