The Office for National Statistics (ONS) Research Excellence Awards 2026 are now open.
These awards recognise and celebrate excellent and innovative work led by accredited researchers.
If your work uses secure data owned or managed by the ONS, we encourage you to apply and showcase your research.
 Award categories
For 2026, we are pleased to offer five award categories:
- Impact of Analysis Award
- Government-led Impact of Analysis Award
- Administrative Data Research UK (ADR UK) Excellence in Methods Award
- Data Creation Award
- ONS People’s Choice Award

Nominations close: midnight, Sunday 6 September 2026

Awards ceremony: Tuesday 24 November 2026, as part of the Secure Research Service (SRS) Conference, held in person in central London
Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel of experts from across the research community.
