We are writing to share important updates about the future of the Secure Research Service (SRS) and the Integrated Data Service (IDS).

The Secure Research Service: Continuing operations

We are pleased to confirm that the Office for National Statistics (ONS) will continue to operate the SRS indefinitely for accredited researchers, in partnership with Administrative Data Research UK (ADR UK). If you are interested in conducting research using the SRS, you can apply through the Project Accreditation Service for the SRS (PASS).

The Integrated Data Service: Changes to research access The IDS is not accepting new applications for external research. We are working through what that means for IDS analytical projects – whether live and on the platform, pipelined or prospective projects. We aim to provide more clarity on this in the next few weeks to current users of, and applicants to, the service. If you have any queries about the IDS, please contact IDS.user.engagement@ons.gov.uk.
