The Project Accreditation Service for the SRS (PASS) replaced the Research Accreditation Service (RAS) on 29 April. Users of the Secure Research Service (SRS) now use PASS to apply for and maintain projects.

PASS project migration
We are pleased to announce that all existing projects and project applications that were submitted within RAS have been successfully transitioned into PASS.
The new service, PASS, allows users to:
- View a personalised dashboard of projects they are listed on; and
- Request changes to existing projects, including:
- Scope
- Additional data
- Extensions
- Adding or removing people or changing roles
- Closing a project
PASS progress update
Since PASS launched, there have been:
- 12 project applications started
- 14 project applications submitted and in progress
- 2 UKSA approved projects
- 1 live project
Applicants now benefit from clear status updates throughout the application process.
Project approval times in PASS have significantly improved, compared to the former RAS system. This improvement is due to a combination of factors, including a more efficient process, a more detailed application form, and a reduced volume of applications. We aim to maintain these time savings as application volumes increase in PASS and encourage you to take full advantage of the new service.
 Reminders and guidance
How to access PASS
If you were previously registered on RAS, your account should have been automatically transferred to PASS.
To access your account, please select the ‘Sign-in’ option and use the ‘Forgot Password’ link to set your new credentials.
Researcher accreditation
All PASS projects still require researchers to be fully accredited. Visit our website for details and conditions.
Researcher accreditation is now provided by the People and Projects Service (PPS).
The PPS is part of the Integrated Data Service (IDS) infrastructure and will service new researcher accreditations and accreditation renewals for users of all Trusted Research Environments (TREs). For more information on how to apply for an IDS Hub account and become an accredited researcher, or how to renew your existing accreditation, view the guidance on the IDS website.
