National population projections
On 28 January, we published 2022-based national population projections (NPPs). The NPPs provide an indication of the potential future population size of the UK and its constituent countries. This release includes the latest long-term international migration estimates published on 28 November 2024.
Alongside this, we have published a methodology article which compares national population projections from 1971 to 2022, with population estimates, births, long-term migration and deaths.
Try our new UK population projection explorer to see how changes in life expectancy, net migration and fertility could affect the population over a long period.
The provisional date for the release of our subnational population projections (2022-based) for England is 9 May to ensure that we have sufficient time to provide the best possible estimates.
Explore the labour market in regions of the UK
This publication provides regional, local authority and parliamentary constituency breakdowns of changes in UK employment, unemployment and economic inactivity.
Explore differences across the regions of the UK, for example the highest employment rate was in the South West (78.3%) and the lowest was in Wales (70%).
These are official statistics in development.
Discover healthy life expectancy for your area
This release explores healthy life expectancy (HLE), which shows the number of years people are expected to live in “good” general health.
Wokingham had the highest HLE at birth for both males (69.7 years) and females (70.8 years). Use our interactive map to view trends in healthy life expectancy at birth and at 65 years old, across England and Wales.
Local authority private rent and house prices
The Price Index of Private Rents (PIPR) produces rent price and inflation statistics for the UK, tracking prices paid for new and existing tenancies in the private rental sector.
Every month, our housing prices tool is updated with the latest data for house prices and private rental prices for local authorities across Britain.
In December, we released a publication exploring housing purchase affordability. This bulletin shows the ratios of house prices to annual disposable household incomes, by decile, for countries of the UK and regions in England.
Public service productivity user survey
We are looking at how our public service productivity publications can be more coherent, and how they can better fit with other productivity publications.
Feedback from local authorities will be instrumental in helping us improve these publications to better meet user needs. Please complete the survey by 19 February.
