Crime Survey for England and Wales updates

Crimes against individuals and households fell by 10%

New estimates from the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) showed that crime in the year ending June 2023 fell by 10% compared with the previous year, driven by decreases in fraud and criminal damage offences. This is the first time we have been able to make comparisons with the previous year since the pandemic. Find out more in the full bulletin.

Recent Publications

Property crime tables: The CSEW estimated that 0.4% of mobile phone owners in England and Wales had their phone stolen in the year ending March 2023, a decrease from 0.7% in the year ending March 2020. Download the full dataset for more information on theft and robbery offences.

Nature of fraud and computer misuse tables: The dataset collates all the latest data on fraud and computer misuse offences from the CSEW and the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), including the number of incidents and characteristics of victims.
