Less than five weeks to go to have your say on the future of population statistics
On 29 June, the ONS launched a public consultation on proposals for a future population and migration statistics system. Before the public consultation closes on 26 October, the ONS is seeking detailed feedback on how far the proposals are likely to meet user needs and where it should be prioritising future research.
To help users understand and complete the consultation, the ONS will be running two further webinars in October. If you have previously attended a consultation webinar, you are more than welcome to attend but should be aware that the content will be the same. You can book your place on Eventbrite:

Update on mid-year population estimates and UK international migration statistics
This week’s planned publications on rebasing of mid-year population estimates (2012-2021) and revised UK international migration statistics (2012-2021) have been postponed. Earlier this year in our provisional plans for publishing the latest population and migration estimates statement, we stated that we want to provide the best possible statistics so that important decisions on social and economic policy, both locally and nationally, can be made with confidence. This remains our objective.
To provide consistent estimates across a number of upcoming publications and ensure these are all based on the most up-to-date information, we are changing our publication timetable. As migration statistics feed into mid-year estimates, next week’s mid-year estimates for the year ending June 2022 will also be postponed. We will now be publishing these on Thursday 23 November, and you can read the full statement on our website.

Apple of my pie – how much does it cost?
What does autumn mean to you? A crunching walk through fallen leaves in your local park, a pumpkin-flavoured coffee as a morning treat, or maybe a delicious apple pie made from summer-ripened apples. Here is something to think about as we head into autumn: the cost of cooking apples has changed, so take a glance at our data which can show how inflation has affected the price of this ingredient.
