As part of the continuing enhancement of the SRS, we are making some immediate changes to the SRS log-in screen.
As advised in previous researcher newsletters, the security of the Secure Research Service (SRS) is being upgraded through the introduction of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
MFA will require the use of an additional means of identification to log into the SRS, alongside the current user-name and password requirements and demonstrates our continued alignment to the Five Safes Framework. |

This change will be implemented through a phased roll out, and you will be emailed with full instructions which will tell you when you are required to change from single sign on to MFA.
Ahead of the roll-out of MFA, the first implementation stage is an immediate change to the SRS log-in screen, on Friday 27th January for ALL SRS users.
From that date, users will be asked to select one of two new options to log into the SRS:
- I have NOT been advised to use Multi-Factor Authentication
- I HAVE been advised to use Multi-Factor Authentication
Please select the first option ‘I have NOT...’ to access the SRS until advised otherwise.
The second stage of implementation will be rolled out following this change, where you will be emailed with full instructions when required to access using MFA.
To avoid any future interruptions to your access to the SRS, please ensure that you have registered the correct email address and mobile number in the Research Accreditation Service (RAS)
If you have any questions regarding this change please contact us.
