Developing the admin-based housing stock profile for England and Wales: 2020
We have published new feasibility research on developing admin-based housing stock statistics for England and Wales: 2020 as well as summary statistics to create an admin-based housing stock profile for England and Wales: 2020. This research explores the feasibility of using Valuation Office Agency (VOA) data and the ONS’s residential address frame to produce census-like housing stock statistics.
This research is a progression of previous research that has demonstrated the viability of using linked VOA data to produce census-like statistics such as accommodation type, overcrowding, as well as providing detailed information about floor area.
Developing admin-based income statistics, England and Wales: tax year ending 2018
We have published the latest development to our experimental admin-based income statistics (ABIS), including the first release of an accompanying quality and methodology information report. This continues our investigation into the feasibility of using administrative data to measure income for small areas. Using improved methodology and incorporating two additional administrative data sources from the Department for Work and Pensions: Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Universal Credit (UC), we have produced experimental ABIS for the tax year ending 2018, reflecting the latest time period for which we have all administrative data sources available.
Unique beta testing opportunity for researchers: linkage of Census 2021 to the Longitudinal Study
The Longitudinal Study (LS) is the largest longitudinal data resource in England and Wales, containing census and life events data for a 1% sample of the population. We are currently linking Census 2021 data into the existing LS Research Database. This is the 6th set of census data to be linked and the LS will then hold data spanning 50 years. We are offering a unique opportunity for a select group of researchers to help with our beta testing stage. These researchers will have early access to run approved projects using the new data to help us to assess whether the new dataset is fit for purpose.
If you are interested and want to know more please visit the beta test web page below or contact the team. The closing date for expressions of interest is 31 January 2023.
Have you completed the UK wide Veterans' Survey?
There is still time to complete the Veterans' Survey, which closes online on the 2 February 2023.
Hearing from our veteran community is vital and that is why the government launched a UK-wide Veterans’ Survey.
The survey gives ex-UK armed forces personnel and their families the opportunity to provide direct feedback to the government on their experiences, access to and use of services for veterans.
It is important we hear a wide range of views and we would like to encourage as many ex-UK armed forces veterans and their families to share feedback as possible. There’s still time, so please take part today.
