Updates from the Secure Research Service
2020 Business Structure Database
The 2020 Business Structure Database is now available in the SRS. If your project has approval to access this data and you would like it added to your project area, please contact srs.customer.support@ons.gov.uk so that we can arrange this for you.
Ingest request forms
To help ensure that we have all the information we need to process requests for ingests into your project, we are introducing a new researcher ingest request form. This form will need to be completed by you for all ingest requests from now on. The form can be found in the related downloads section of our website. Completed forms should be emailed to srs.customer.support@ons.gov.uk .
This form does not apply to datasets you would like to add to your project that are already held in the SRS, these should be requested via the Research Accreditation Service. The researcher ingest request form should be used for anything you would like to bring into the SRS yourself. Data can only be added to your project if approvals are in place to do so. Approvals are needed for all datasets, including those that are publicly available.
Output clearances and project applications
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that there is currently a very high level of demand for the SRS and projects that are directly informing the government response to COVID-19 are being prioritised. This means that it is currently taking us longer than normal to clear other output requests. We will process all requests as quickly as possible, however, this could take up to 5 working days. This does not include time taken for you to respond to any requests for clarification from the Statistical Support Team.
New applications for projects that are directly informing the government response to the coronavirus will also take priority over other new project applications. Please help us to be able to progress your application to the Research Accreditation Panel as quickly as possible by ensuring that you have followed the project application guidance. You may also find this example application helpful.
