Deaths registered in England and Wales (series DR): 2016
Dementia and Alzheimer disease remained the leading cause of death in England and Wales, accounting for 12.0% of all deaths registered in 2016, up from 11.6% in 2015.
Ischaemic heart diseases remained the second leading cause of death in England and Wales, responsible for 11.0% of all deaths registered in 2016, down from 11.5% in 2015.
Overseas travel and tourism, provisional: Apr to June 2017
There were 10.9 million visits to the UK by overseas residents in Quarter 2 (Apr to June) 2017. This was an increase of 8.9% compared with the corresponding period a year earlier. The number of nights spent in the UK by overseas residents grew by 6.7%, while the amount spent in the UK on these visits increased by 12.4% to £6.5 billion.
