East Oxford Low Traffic Neighbourhoods
From 20 May 2022, the Highways Authority, Oxfordshire County Council is trialling three low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) in Oxford, which cover the Divinity Road, St Clement’s, and St Mary’s areas and as part of an experimental traffic regulation order (ETRO).
An LTN is an area where motorised traffic is prevented from taking shortcuts through a residential area by means of traffic filters. The trial will last for at least six months.

Cost of Living
Recent Office for National Statistics (ONS) data reveals Inflation has hit its highest level (9%) in 40 years. We know this is a difficult time for many residents and it has put more stress on the advice professional and volunteer support services in the city.
To support the services that are helping, we hosted a Cost of Living training event earlier in the week. The event brought together a range of different services and covered a range of subjects to encourage skill sharing and cross working.
Learnings from the day will help to shape our plans to hold a roadshow of pop-up information sessions for the public in several community locations over the coming months.

Cave Street redevelopment
Consultation is open on plans for updating Standingford House with a flexible and accessible new workspace.
A new Standingford House will see a significantly increased internal floor area, making more efficient use of an important site that has already been earmarked for employment use in the Oxford Local Plan.
The new three-storey building will be flexible to enable startup businesses to easily scale from one desk up to a self-contained office. It will also offer a range of different spaces, such as breakout spaces, meeting rooms, offices and single desks, offering businesses a choice currently unavailable to them.
The new building will be fully accessible and aspires to achieve the highest BREEAM (Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method) rating of ‘outstanding’.

New electric vehicle chargers open around the city
There are three new places to charge electric vehicles in Oxford after the installation of six rapid and fast charging points across the city.
The new chargers are located at Headington Car Park, Old Greyfriars Street, and Leys Pool and Leisure centre. They will provide quick electric vehicle charging to residents and taxi drivers.
The locations of the charging points have been selected to make sure that electric taxi drivers are never more than five miles away from a charging point, with easy access to the major roads into the city.
Rapid chargers allow drivers to fully charge their electric vehicle in well under an hour, and are critical for high mileage users like electric taxi drivers.

Another OCHL development progressing well
You never know what you'll find at the end of the rainbow but earlier this week it was another OCHL housing development progressing really well.
When finished, the site in Between Towns Road will have 35 one and two-bed flats and three 3-bed houses, 16 will be let at social rent, two at submarket 'affordable' rent, and the remaining 20 will be sold for shared ownership.
The development will also offer a new pedestrian area with the existing public footpath that links St Omer Road to Between Towns Road improved and widened. This will be a well-designed public realm, with robust paving, attractive tree planting and a well-lit route.
This is just one of the many new housing developments we're working on across the city to offer more social and affordable options.

Welcome to a new Lord Mayor
On Wednesday, we officially welcomed Councillor James Fry as Oxford’s new Lord Mayor.
Councillor Fry takes over from Councillor Mark Lygo who has served as Lord Mayor since November 2020.
Thank you to Councillor Lygo for all his hard work during his term - we’ve particularly enjoyed #MoveWithMayorMark.
We look forward to Councillor Fry’s term and everything he has planned.
