 Recycling container consultation
We’re in the middle of our biggest consultation ever.
So far, we’ve received more than 10,000 responses to our survey about recycling containers.
There are three options to choose from:
-
Two wheelie bins – one for plastic, glass and cans, and one for paper and cardboard
-
Two stackable trolleys – with boxes for separating plastics, glass, cans, paper and cardboard
-
A ‘Quatro’ bin, with four separate sections for plastics, cans, glass, and paper and cardboard

Council tax bills
Over the coming weeks, you will receive your council tax bill, or you may have already had it.
Although we collect your council tax, the money you pay is split between Leicestershire County Council, Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, NWLDC and parish and town councils. Here’s how council tax is broken down:
During billing time, our customer team gets double the number of calls compared to other months. Around 60% of these calls are avoidable and these calls sometimes stop us getting to the people who really need our help.
- If you pay by Direct Debit, you don’t need to call us
- If you’ve overpaid your council tax it will be automatically credited against the next year’s bill
- If you pay by standing order, this needs to be arranged through your bank
- If you pay at the Post Office just use the barcode on your bill to pay at the Post Office
- If you are struggling to pay or need advice, please do call – 01530 454545
