Spring is here! Brighter days and sunny weather mean this is the perfect time to get outdoors with the family and complete your Rebel Rangers challenges across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
No matter how many badges youāve earned so far, there's still plenty of time to complete your remaining challengesĀ before 19 April*Ā and enter the prize draw with a chance toĀ win a Ā£1,000 Center Parcs voucher!

Hands-on, educational family fun
Bring the family together for a fun and creative Family Saturday at the National Civil War Centre.
These relaxed, dropāin sessions are perfect for children and grownāups to enjoy handsāon activities inspired by history. Expect crafts, playful challenges, and opportunities to explore real objects from the past in a friendly, supportive setting. Each activity is designed to spark curiosity and help children learn through making and doing.

Final chance to take part in the LEGOĀ® Trail!
Thereās a limited time left for families to complete the popular LEGOĀ® Trail. Running until 18 April, families are invited to search the galleries of the National Civil War Centre and Newark Town Hall Museum and Art Gallery to spot miniature LEGOĀ® figures.
Each figure tells a story, encouraging children to look closely, solve clues and learn something new along the way. Itās a great activity for the Easter break, free for Newark and Sherwood residents and accessible for all.

Visit the Knife Angel in Newark this Spring

22 April ā 19 May 2026 šĀ Newark Town Hall
The nationally recognised Knife AngelĀ sculpture will be visiting Newark town centre this Spring, giving you the chance to see this powerful national memorial up close.
- A 27āfoot sculpture made from over 100,000 seized knives, highlighting the impact of knife crime on communities across the UK.
- Designed by artist Alfie Bradley in partnership with the British Ironworks Centre.
- Community activities and events will take place while the Knife Angel is in Newark, with details shared soon.
We are working alongside We Are Newark, You Can Do Sport, Newark College and Your CVSĀ to bring the Knife Angel to the town.Ā

Poland exhibition now open at the National Civil War Centre
From Poland: Spirit and Strength, is now open at the National Civil War Centre. Created in partnership with local Polish residents, it shares personal stories, treasured family objects and traditional crafts that celebrate culture, resilience, and community.
Visitors can explore colourful textiles, handmade items, photographs, and everyday belongings that reflect the experiences of Polish people who made Newark and Sherwood their home. With bilingual displays throughout, the exhibition has been designed to feel warm, welcoming, and accessible to everyone.
Entry is free for Newark and Sherwood Residents.

An Evening with Laurel & Hardy ā 16 April
Celebrate 100 years of the iconic comedy duo with Neil Brand. Enjoy restored silent film clips, live piano accompaniment and fascinating behindātheāscenes stories, a nostalgic treat for classic cinema fans.
The Power of Hormones with Dr Louise Newson ā 18 April
An eyeāopening and empowering live show exploring hormone health, medical misinformation and womenās wellbeing.
RARE Productions: Annie ā 23 to 25 April
A talented young cast brings this muchāloved musical to life with heart, humour and unforgettable songs.

Newark as you've never seen it before
Experience local landmarks in new and interesting ways with Convergences, a free exhibition on display now at Newark Castle Station.
Taken during a series of 2025 workshops with Nottinghamshire-based artist Daniel Rapley, the photographs were taken by local people living with sight loss. Including local landmarks such as the town hall, Newark Castle, and Ossingtonās Coffee Palace, Daniel merged the images into otherworldly scenes, mirroring the optical effects experienced by people living with macular degeneration.

Come along to the Cleveland Square Community CafĆ© in Newark! āš„
Run fully by volunteers, the cafƩ welcomes anyone who walks through the door, and using every penny raised to fund private counselling sessions for members of a local Bereavement Group.

Every Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30am until 3pm š Cleveland Square Community Centre, Newark, NG24 4HL
You can come for breakfast, lunch, company, and conversation. Anyone can enjoy the cafĆ©ās affordable meals, takeaways, and a pay it forward scheme. The cafĆ© also hosts a Uniform Club, offering free or donation-based school uniforms to families who need a helping hand.

Looking for something fun (and free!) to do with the kids this Easter holiday? Weāve got a whole basket of activities running throughout the break at our parks, from nature trails to handsāon craft sessions!

Pick up a reusable I Spy card and see what wildlife you can spot around our parks. A great way to get little explorers outdoors and noticing nature!
