Have you started Rebel Rangers yet? 🏹
The Rebel Rangers challenge is now well underway, and there’s still plenty of time to get involved before it finishes on 19 April.
Families can explore six fantastic attractions across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, uncover stories of rebels from history and complete fun digital challenges at each location.
⭐ Don’t forget:
- Collect a badge at every site
- Complete all six to become an official Rebel Ranger
- Enter the prize draw for a £1,000 Center Parcs gift card and other brilliant prizes 🎁

LEGO® Trail – history with a creative twist!
Explore Newark’s past brick by brick with the LEGO® Trail.
Running until 18 April, families are invited to pick up a free trail sheet and follow a trail of hidden LEGO® Minifigures across the National Civil War Centre and Newark Town Hall Museum and Art Gallery. Each figure represents a real person or moment from Newark’s history, bringing stories to life in a fun and imaginative way.
As you search the galleries, you’ll uncover fascinating artefacts, explore historic spaces, and learn more about Newark’s dramatic past along the way.
Complete the trail at either venue and hand in your sheet for the chance to win a LEGO® Natural History Museum set.

Family Saturdays - hands‑on history for all ages
Make memories together at Family Saturdays, taking place on the first Saturday of every month at the National Civil War Centre.
Offering FREE entry for Newark and Sherwood residents, Family Saturdays are designed for curious minds and creative hands. Packed with interactive activities, you’ll discover trails, games, and crafts that help bring history to life. Families can explore our immersive galleries, dress up in replica costumes, and handle replica objects as they discover the stories of the past together.
On selected dates, our Family Saturday EXTRA events add a special twist with themed activities and one‑off experiences:

Following her acclaimed 2024 tour, Dr Newson returns with Breaking the Cycle: The Power of Hormones, a show that challenges long‑held myths, explores overlooked science and shines a light on how hormones impact everyday wellbeing.

Evening talk: The Norton Disney Dodecahedron
Discover one of archaeology’s great mysteries in this fascinating evening talk at the National Civil War Centre.
Found during excavations at a Roman site in Norton Disney in 2023, the Norton Disney Dodecahedron is a rare and beautifully crafted object, and its purpose remains unknown. Join archaeologist Richard Parker as he explores what we know about this intriguing Gallo‑Roman artefact, how it was discovered, and why it continues to puzzle historians and archaeologists alike.

Rock Out at the Palace
You are invited to join the talented Newark Amateur Operatic Society as they bring the smash‑hit musical We Will Rock You to life. Expect huge vocals, bold characters and all your favourite Queen anthems performed with passion and heart.
This much‑loved local group return to our theatre year after year, and their productions never disappoint. ⚡
Set on the futuristic iPlanet, where individuality is banned and music is controlled by algorithms, the story follows two young rebels determined to save rock ’n’ roll.

There are free hot meals being offered to anyone in need every Wednesday and Thursday between 3.30pm to 5.30pm 🍲
This service is being run from Barnbygate Methodist Church Community Hall (not the main church, the side door down the alleyway – there will be a sign outside). Individuals will also be able to charge their phones.

Feel‑Good Mornings at The Heron Café
If you’re looking for a warm, welcoming place to lift your spirits, The Heron Café is the perfect spot. Set in the cosy surroundings of the Lifespring Centre in Ollerton (NG22 9PP), these friendly, music‑filled mornings are designed to bring people together through song, conversation, and connection.
Enjoy free entry, complimentary tea and coffee, and live performances from talented local musicians. Whether you love to sing along, tap your feet or simply sit back and soak up the atmosphere, everyone is welcome - including those living with dementia or disabilities.
