Positive progress continues at Newark landmark development
Significant progress is being made on the transformation of the former M&S building at 32 Stodman Street. The development is one of Newark and Sherwood District Council and Newark Town Board’s flagship projects, hoping to breathe new life into the town.
Building work is proceeding well under the management of complete construction partner Stepnell with the development quickly taking shape in the heart of Newark. Once completed, the site will deliver 29 high-quality private rented homes, offering a vibrant new residential option in the town centre. Alongside these modern homes, plans include attractive new retail units designed to revitalise Newark’s retail offer and encourage greater footfall, helping to secure a thriving future for the town centre.

Stop the engine! Share the message
Leaving your engine running while parked (idling) pollutes the air we breathe - especially around schools. Just 30 seconds of idling can harm children’s health, waste fuel, and add to climate change.
💡 Switch off your engine when stationary and help make Newark and Sherwood cleaner and safer for everyone!
✅ It’s better for your wallet ✅ It’s better for your health ✅ It’s better for our planet
Unnecessary idling can even lead to a fine!
Join the movement and pledge to #StopTheEngine. Share the message, encourage others, and be part of the change!
