Hello! Want to know how you can get involved and make a difference? The Tenant Times is your go-to!
Meet Terry, our Senior Housing Officer
Hello, my name is Terry Bailey, and I am the Senior Housing Officer covering Ollerton, Boughton and the villages of Walesby, Kneesall, Sutton on Trent, Carlton on Trent and Weston, Kirton, Laxton and more!
We have been working from the Community Hub on Manvers View in Boughton for nearly two years. It is a local space where people and partners can work together to support you. We regularly hold community events and provide advice services to help tenants and residents make a difference to their own lives and those of the community.
Being a Senior Housing Officer, I manage a team of tenancy officers that cover the town and villages, a tenancy assistant and street warden.
Tenants are at the centre of all the services that we provide. We care about your welfare and wellbeing and try and get you involved in everything we do. Be it Community Link Groups, community coffee mornings, work with our partners, such as Citizens Advice, Police Surgeries, job and employment advice and our popular community walkabouts. Come along for a cuppa to the community hub to see our latest projects!
The Tenant Times is a great source of information and a way to find out what is happening with your housing services throughout the district.
Give this edition a thorough read and find out what is happening in your area!
Best wishes,
Terry Bailey

GLOW provides community groups with the opportunity to apply for funding of up to £1,000.
Recently, we dropped by to see hello to a few of the groups who successfully applied to the scheme to see how the funding had been spent. Take a look here!

I’m Marie Henson, Tenancy Officer for Southwell and local villages.
I have been a Tenancy Officer for just over 4 years but have recently changed area from Blidworth and Rainworth.
I worked in Domestic Abuse services for almost 10 years previous to joining the District Council in 2021, so I come from a support background.
Outside of work I enjoy gardening and growing my own produce, crochet and I’m an avid reader.

Domestic abuse can happen to anyone – regardless of age, gender or sexuality. It’s not limited to anyone ‘type’ of person or relationship. At the District Council we take domestic abuse very seriously and as a landlord we have a responsibility to our customers. We are currently working towards our Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) accreditation, which ensures we have a range of help, support and training available to colleagues to support our customers and each other, and a dedicated Domestic Abuse Coordinator to offer more tailored support when people need it.
If you see a staff member wearing our purple and orange badges and ribbons, they are DAHA trained. This means you can be reassured they are able to listen to you and help you get the support you need.
More support can be found here: www.newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk/domesticviolence

We know that noise can be frustrating - but not all noise is antisocial behaviour (ASB). That’s why we’ve created a new Good Neighbourhood Policy to help everyone understand what ASB is, what probably isn’t ASB, and what to do next.
This policy was shaped with help from our tenants and is all about making life better for everyone. It gives clear guidance on how to deal with noise issues fairly and calmly, and it encourages early conversations to stop problems from growing.
More than half of the ASB complaints we received last year were about noise - but many of those weren’t actually ASB. Tenants told us they wanted clearer definitions and better ways to resolve issues, and we’ve listened.
We’re also making sure the policy considers people’s individual needs and wellbeing - because every situation is different.

Tenants’ safety matters to us. With Awaab's Law coming into effect from October 2025, we're ensuring we are ready to respond to calls quickly and give a good service.
We’re busy preparing for this new law and are creating a new policy and recruiting a new team to take the lead on removing and preventing damp, mould and other hazards in homes.
Your ideas can help make sure the policy works for you, in your homes. Whether you’ve had issues with damp or just want to improve housing for everyone, your voice matters.
We're also rolling out more training for staff and sharing information with tenants to help everyone spot and manage damp and mould early, keeping our homes healthier for all.
If you would like further information on Awaab’s Law and what this means for tenants, please see here.
