We use a digital system to manage our tenants' rent accounts, repairs and servicing, as well as any communications they have with us around housing services. We’re always looking at providing the best value for money and finding ways to make improvements to the way we work.
It’s time to move to a more modern system - which ensures we can use information to better shape services to meet tenant needs, enabling more online services for those who prefer and freeing up time for queries that need to be face-to-face. After a lot of hard work, we are preparing to move to a new system in May 2025.
You can find all the benefits of the new system and how tenants will be affected by the transfer on our website.

We’re relaunching our estate walkabouts and both residents and tenants are invited to join in.
Estate walkabouts are a chance for local people to join District Council officers, Councillors and partner organisations as they ‘walk and talk’ around local areas, addressing any resident concerns and contributing to the overall improvement of each neighbourhood.
A full list of walkabouts, including date and meeting place, can be found on the District Council website here: www.newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk/estatewalkabouts.
Residents are encouraged to join a walkabout near them and engage with the Council to share their thoughts and concerns directly. This initiative encompasses Newark and Sherwood District Council’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and tenant-driven decision-making.

Newark and Hawtonville Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP) has been created to help target underage drinking and antisocial behaviour. The Partnership is made up of local authorities, police, schools, retailers, neighbourhood groups and health providers all working together to tackle alcohol related harm to young people and improve the quality of life for residents.
The CAP works closely with the local schools to take a proactive approach to alcohol education, to ensure that young people are equipped to make the right decisions about issues including drugs, anti-social and criminal behaviour. It also works with local retailers to help them avoid making underage sales and reduce ‘proxy’ sales where adults buy alcohol for under-18s.
The partnership would like residents to complete this short survey as it will help them to understand where public concerns are and help direct their work to resolve the issues. It will only take 2 minutes of your time to complete!

TheShed@Collingham is a welcoming and vibrant community initiative designed to bring together like-minded people in a supportive and friendly environment. Its mission is to combat social isolation and promote wellbeing by providing a space where members can share skills, build friendships, and stay social through participation in woodwork, and more recently glass and metal working activities.
The Charity recently received £67,500 funding from Newark and Sherwood District Council through the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) with funding used to expand its floor space to accommodate for further resident volunteers. The extension will also allow the group to develop their offer in a safe environment, with the grant also supporting the purchase of essential equipment.
Whether you’re looking to learn new skills, pursue hobbies, or simply enjoy the company of like-minded individuals, The Shed@Collingham offers a place to do all that and more.

We probably all have recycling and waste bins in our kitchens, but do we all have both in our bathrooms? It is estimated that only 50% of bathroom packaging is recycled! Often, the reason for this is that we tend to not have two separate bins in our bathrooms to separate waste. An easy way to combat this is to have a bin with two compartments or two smaller caddies!
Check out where these common bathroom items should go! Recycled items should be empty, clean, dry and loose when binned!
Recycling bin:
- Toilet roll tubes
- Haircare, bodywash and cleaning bottles (keep caps on)
- Deodorant and hairspray aerosol cans (keep lids on)
Glass recycling bin:
- Glass bottles that may have contained medicine or pills (remove lids and dispose of medication correctly)
General waste bin:
- Wipes, nappies or sanitary products
- Roll-on or stick deodorants
- Toothbrushes
- Plastic tubes like toothpaste and hand cream
- Dental floss
- Trigger sprays and soap pumps (remove these from your glass and plastic bottles)
- Pill blister packs and contact lens cases
Bathroom recycling sorted!
