Sign up by direct debit to get your £150 energy bill rebate payment quicker
Here's what you need to know about the £150 energy bill rebate announced by central government:
- The rebate will not need to be repaid.
- It is to support households in England with the rising cost of living and will be paid to all eligible households in Council Tax bands A to D.
- If you are eligible and pay your Council Tax by direct debit you will receive your payment directly from May - this is the quickest way to receive it.
- If you do not pay by direct debit, a claim form will need to be completed so that you can receive your payment by BACS. We will provide more info on how to do that when it is available.
- Households in bands E to H on low incomes may be able to apply for a discretionary energy rebate. We will provide more info on this when it is available
Please share this information with your friends and family.

Garden recycling scheme
The sunny weather is slowly making its way back to us, and many of us are getting out in the garden!
Our garden recycling scheme costs £35 a year. You will get a brown bin and an all year-round collection service, every two weeks between March and November, and monthly from December to February.
We are unable to take pro-rata payments so sign up now because the service runs from 1 April to 31 March! For those really green-fingered, extra bins are available at a further £35 each.
Order or renew your brown garden recycling bin using our online form. Upon receipt of payment you’ll be sent a sticker to place on your bin. Please ensure this is clearly placed on your bin as only bins with stickers will be collected.
You can use the bins to dispose of:
- grass cuttings
- hedge trimmings
- leaves
- small branches and twigs (up to 10cm in diameter)
- plants and weeds
- cut flowers
You can also check your garden waste collection days using our online calendar.
Alternatively you can register to dispose of your garden waste at the recycling centres online.

Did you know… You can report a fly-tip on our website!
Help us to fight this blight on our beautiful district by reporting any fly-tips you see. Fly-tipping is defined as the illegal dumping of waste (e.g. black bags, tyres, garden waste) on publicly owned or private land.
If you see one, please let us know so we can act swiftly.
We’ll respond to your report and aim to clear the fly-tip in 24 hours if it’s on a street or in a public place. Plus, if you’re able to provide any information which helps us to identify the culprits, your report could lead to them being fined up to £50,000 or receiving a prison sentence so they don’t offend again.
Find out about our Not In Newark and Sherwood campaign against fly-tipping here.
