This Saturday is the Nottinghamshire County Show

Enjoy a fun-filled day out with the family at Newark Showground.

Join us as we celebrate our local agricultural community with attractions including livestock, equine, local food producers and craft stalls, countryside competitions, traders and more! 

The scene is set for a great day celebrating the best of our county. It's going to be a fun-packed day with something for the whole family to enjoy. Spread the word amongst your family and friends!

Community Zone

Lots to do in the Community Zone

The George Stephenson Hall will once again become a Community Zone packed with over 40 stands and organisations with interactive entertainment for all ages.

Each stand will share their information in a fun way, using a game or a challenge, showcasing all the amazing work our services and our partners are offering the local community. There is plenty to do and see.

Climbing wall

Get active - conquer the climbing wall

Scale the heights of the climbing wall with Notts Outdoors for a fun challenge with great views across the showground. 

If you decide you enjoy climbing and exploring then check out Notts Outdoors after the show...

Adventures which is part of the wider Notts Outdoors will also be there. Go and chat to them about their fun activities for all ages like zip wires and kayaking - great for all skill levels. There are chances to win a free go at these activities too!

Via County Show

Meet Via East Midlands 

Via is the team that manages Nottinghamshire's highways. Find out more and chat to them about roads, rights of way, cycling and Bikeability, and the ever-popular gritter returns.

Road Safety Education - this year the team will be focusing on an older driver programme, with Specsavers joining the stand to check your eyesight.

Alongside the gritter there's a new remote control mower/quad bike as roads need maintaining in summer and winter.

Try a Bikeability training cycle course

Young children will enjoy the Bikeability bikes and a little training cycle course delivered by this award-winning team, part of Via East Midlands.

Marches energy advice

Energy advice with Marches

County council partner, Marches Energy Advice is a charity dedicated to tackling fuel poverty and promoting a low-carbon future. Since 1995, they’ve been helping households across the Midlands to live in warmer, healthier, and more energy-efficient homes.

Look out for the van at the Community Zone entrance. The stand will be staffed by a qualified energy advisor, who will provide impartial information and guidance on reducing energy bills, accessing support, and understanding low-carbon technology. There will be insulation samples, a working solar panel, games to increase energy and plastic waste awareness.

Newark County Show

Crack the maze with Newark and Sherwood DC

Our colleagues from Newark and Sherwood District Council,have hired an inflatable Crystal Maze-style dome for visitors to have a go at collecting gold tokens for local charities.

Newark Civil War Centre and Active4Today will provide various hands on activities to promote communities, culture and health and wellbeing.

The team from Newark Creates will be coming along with hands on activities to promote the Civil War Centre and Palace Theatre. Active4Today will be promoting health and wellbeing and will be bringing various pieces of fitness equipment with challenges to complete.

Come and meet Adoption East Midlands. Join in crafts, meet an adopter and find out more about adoption.

The team are on hand to answer any questions you may have about adoption.

Fostering banner

Fostering for all

Ahead of Fostering Fortnight, find out if fostering is for you. The team will be over by the Kids Corner area in the family zone, near to the Pony Club - they have a yellow gazebo and would love to have a chat.

As part of Foster for East Midlands Councils, the county council is working hard to bring more foster carers on board because every child deserves a loving, stable home.

Fostering locally means that children get to remain in their community with their school, friends and extended family nearby.

Youth Service at County Show

Meet our youth workers

The mobile youth service will be showcasing one of its purpose-built youth clubs in a van offering young people and children, engaging positive activities such as circus skills, archery, arts and crafts, Blaze pod challenge, and various fun activities.

Teams representing our voluntary sector service, C card service and youth participation youth voice will be there too. The main thing about the stand is for the young people to have fun!

HAF County Show

Nottinghamshire County Council Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme ensures children have access to activities and meals during the school holidays for children on benefit related free school meals with HAF funded places across Nottinghamshire. Activities include sports, drama and crafts, hot meals and snacks.

Staples dance will be doing one dance performance on the Community Stage and there will be STEM activities including the robotic dog.

Brooke Farm

Brooke Farm Employment Training Hub 

The team helps people with learning disabilities and autism gain skills and confidence that can lead to paid employment and a more independent future.

There's pot a plant and a chance to win a delicious hamper and afternoon tea for two!

Pulp Friction

Meet Pulp Friction

This year's Chairman's Charity supports learning disabled, and autistic people to develop social, independence and work-readiness skills.

A team of people will be on hand to put you through your paces on the smoothie bikes, the pedal-powered spin-art bike, or Big Kaleidoscope. Fancy something quieter? Take part in small crafts, and paper making activities.

Sports zone

Sports zone

Mansfield Town Football Community Trust will be bringing an inflatable dartboard with prizes for the highest score across multiple ages.

Coolest sport in Notts? Try your skills with the team from the National Ice Centre with their inflatable hockey shooting cage which offers a safe space for visitors to test their accuracy.

Summer is a lovely time to get on the water. See if you are cut out for rowing with a go on the Newark Rowing Club rowing machines, and a display of rowing shells and blades.

Sherwood Archers is a local charity and archery club. Pin the tail on the archery target with those closest to the middle going into a free draw to win a taster session for two at the club, and anyone who takes part will get a sweet!

MF Dance will be handing out flyers for dance classes. Take part in the skipping challenge, and guess the teddy bears name for a chance to win one months free dance classes. You can also guess how many bands are in the jar for the opportunity to win a prize. MF dancers will also be performing on the Community Stage.

With Wimbledon right around the corner, our friends from Newark Tennis Club will return with some small tennis courts for anyone to come and have a game!

If you'd rather watch then don't forget the Lexus Open in June in Nottingham and Wimbledon fortnight in July.

Meet the Inspire Culture Team

Be Inspired: visit the Inspire Team from Newark Library and Learning who will be here to inspire you!

Have a go at badge making, seasonal crafts, and play giant games. The team will also be chatting about all things Inspire - from libraries, to learning, and everything in-between, as part of our county wide offer. With this year being Inspire’s 10th year and the National Year of Reading, find out more about how to get involved.

Vertas

Stay healthy!

Working in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council, Vertas is proud to provide delicious, balanced, and responsibly sourced school meals to pupils across Nottinghamshire.

Find out about the Vertas commitment to locally sourced ingredients and nutritious meals for schools, nurseries, businesses, and local communities through the meals at home initiative.

The stand will incorporate a range of engaging games and hands-on experiences that celebrate local produce and healthy eating. Including an interactive guess-the-vegetable mystery box, a challenging buzz-wire game, and ‘feed the carrot to the donkey’ – a child-friendly take on the popular party game.

Check out the Your Health, Notts smoothie bike - a bike that pedals and makes smoothies. They will also offer health checks including height, and blood pressure.

Sexual Health Services Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will be promoting sexual health services funded by Nottinghamshire County Council.

NHS Services team will also offer activities for children and young people to participate and learn more about health and care services.

Disabled visitors: carers are free if accompanied by a disabled adult purchasing a ticket.

Disabled parking is available - proof of eligibility required.
