Temporary learning village at Ruddington school now open
Pupils and staff at St Peter’s Junior School in Ruddington have been reunited after the Easter break thanks to the completion of a new purpose-built temporary learning village. The school was forced to closed in December 2025 following the discovery of structural issues as part of routine work in the main building, and staff and pupils were moved to other schools.
Now all 350 pupils are back together and learning in the same location with plenty of classrooms, on-site catering, a school hall and provision for special educational needs. It’s believed that completion makes it the fastest-ever turnaround for a project of this type in the country.

Preparing for nursery with the help of family hubs
Oliver’s mum, Sarah, was worried about her young son’s confidence and social skills. Her local family hub offered the ‘Now I Am 2’ programme, as well as some parenting courses. Week by week, Sarah felt that things were beginning to change for the better.
Nottinghamshire family hubs support families from pregnancy through to young adulthood, offering help, advice and courses when needed.
