Site clearance works to begin at Lowdham roundabout and Kirk Hill, East Bridgford
Site clearance works are set to begin this week at Lowdham roundabout and Kirk Hill as part of the A614/A6097 scheme and so we've put together a helpful guide telling you what you need to know.
Which works are taking place and where?
At Kirk Hill, vegetation and tree clearance works will be taking place between 2 and 6 March.
At Lowdham roundabout, works will include the removal of selected hedgerows, vegetation, a limited number of trees and a short section of existing timber fencing. These works will take place on 26 and 27 February.
Protective fencing will then be installed at Lowdham between 2 and 4 March.
Have you thought about wildlife?
We understand that the news of these works may cause concern and we would like to reassure you that at Kirk Hill, an ecological survey has already taken place to ensure that protected species and birds are not disturbed once the clearance works take place.
At Lowdham roundabout, the works will take place under ecological supervision to ensure that species are protected.
Will it have an impact on my journey?
We will need to install temporary traffic lights at both locations in order to complete these works and while every effort has been made to minimise disruption, we advise planning ahead and leaving extra time for your journeys while these works are taking place.
Why do you need to put traffic management in place?
We understand that news of temporary lights might make you think 'how long will my journey take?' but it's important to remember that traffic management is necessary to not only keep our staff safe, but also those of you who travel on our roads.
What about the rest of the scheme? What's next?
We're carrying out these site clearance works so that targeted archaeological works can take place at both sites in the spring.
Works on the wider scheme will begin in the summer and you will be able to attend ‘meet the contractor’ events later this year to find out more about the scheme and its construction. If you know someone who would like to know more about the A614 scheme, make sure to forward this email to them and encourage them to sign up on our website to receive future bulletins.
