County Show special
This Saturday is the Nottinghamshire County Show
This year marks the 140th anniversary of the County Show on Saturday 10 May, so spread the word amongst your family and friends!
Enjoy a fun-filled day out with the family at Newark Showground and experience the best of farming, agriculture and rural life. There are plenty of attractions to visit like livestock, local food producers, craft stalls, countryside competitions, traders and more.
The weather forecast is looking good, setting the scene for a great day celebrating the best of our county. Its going to be a fun-packed day with something for the whole family to enjoy!

Lots to do in the Community Zone
The George Stephenson Hall will once again become a Community Zone packed with interactive entertainment for all ages.
We are showcasing all the amazing work our services and our partners are offering the local community. Each stand will share their information in a fun way, using a game or a challenge so there is plenty to do and see.

Meet the team from Via East Midlands who look after our highways. They will be out in force with advice on everything from rights of way, road safety to electric vehicle charging.

Electric vehicle (EV) charging closer to your home
Information on our on-street EV charging project, with goodies to giveaway (for adults and kids!), games and activities for children, and our own EV on display.Â

Sit on a gritter!
One of the most popular attractions returns - the chance to meet a gritter driver and sit on a gritter.
We have to manage all weathers to keep you and our highways safe.Â

Young children will enjoy the Bikeability bikes and a little training cycle course delivered by this award-winning team.Â

You donât have to be a parenting expert to adopt
Come and meet Adoption East Midlands. Join in crafts, meet an adopter and find out more about adoption.
The team are on hand to answer any questions you may have about adoption.

Meet our youth workers
The mobile youth service will be showcasing one of its purpose-built youth clubs in a van with games, activities, and advice. Â

Brooke Farm Employment Training HubÂ
The team helps people with learning disabilities and autism gain skills and confidence that can lead to paid employment and a more independent future.
There's pot a plant and a chance to win a delicious hamper and afternoon tea for two!Â

Visit the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) stand in the Countryside Zone
Find out about the new plan to support nature recovery action in Nottinghamshire and how you can get involved in the public consultation on the Draft Strategy.

Anyone for tennis? Or how about rugby?
If you are still feeling energetic then maybe test your tennis skills with Newark Tennis Club volunteers on their mini courts. Or join a coaching session with Nottingham Rugby.
If you'd rather watch then don't forget the Lexus Open in June in Nottingham and Wimbledon fortnight in July.

Come and be âInspiredâ by the county Inspire Libraries team with lots of fun games, arts and crafts âmake and takeâ activities, giant games, badge making, story area, happiness zone and selfie dressing up fun.

Live performances on our community stage
Our large performance area has a range of acts including singing, music, dancing and circus skills.
Check the George Stephenson Hall for the latest listings - performances will start at 9.30am with singing, dancing and digital music from Portland College.

Meet Clipstone Headstocks Museum team
Sit in a 1940's military jeep, see vintage mining equipment such as lamps, helmets and picks or have a go on the cross trainer and generate electricity to light the lights.
There will also be representatives from The National Holocaust Museum and a Nottinghamshire County Council VE Day and VJ Day 80 display.

Date: Saturday 10 May 2025 Venue:Â Newark Showground, NG24 2NY Gates open: 9am to 5pm
Adults ÂŁ19, Under 17s enter free - ticket required
Disabled visitors: carers are free if accompanied by a disabled adult purchasing a ticket.
Disabled parking is available - proof of eligibility required.
Dogs: welcome on short, non-retractable leads.
