It's nearly time to go back to school

As we come towards the end of the summer holidays, it is time to start thinking about going back to school. From getting uniforms, trying on school shoes, and settling those first day nerves there is a lot to organise - as well as registering for free school meals if your child is eligible. 

To apply you will need to provide:

• your National Insurance number or National Asylum Support Service Reference Number
• your last name
• your date of birth

As back to school week beckons, keep in mind that from the first day of term to the last, the small moments in a school day make a real difference to your child. Attendance counts.

Congratulations to students in Notts

A big congratulations to all the young people across Nottinghamshire who received their A Level and GCSE results recently.  If your young person hasn't received the results they were hoping for, they don't need to worry – there are still options for what they may want to do next. The National Careers Service exams helpline is available on 0800 100 900 for support and advice.

Tour of Britain comes to Nottinghamshire

The Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men is coming to the East Midlands on Friday 6 September and you don't want to miss it! This year it’s being hosted by the East Midlands Combined County Authority.  The stage begins at 11am from Derby Arena, near Pride Park, and takes the riders on a scenic journey through Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The stage is 86 miles (138.5 kilometres) long and ends in Newark-on-Trent, next to Sconce and Devon Park.

Embark on a thrilling journey through the woodland trail and uncover an amazing superpower at each stop. 

Trail sheets and prizes are available in the courtyard gift shop and Mill Tea Shop. Every trail purchase includes a prize!

Dementia friendly film screening

Mansfield Central Library

Mansfield Central Library is hosting a dementia friendly screening of The Great Escaper. There will be a quiet room for anyone needing a brief break from the film will be available. Toilets, including an accessible toilet, are also just outside the auditorium door.

Doors will open 20 minutes before the screening and there will be a 20 minute interval.

Win tickets to the Festival of Food and Drink

Festival of Food and Drink, the region’s largest celebration of local food producers and global flavours, is coming to Thoresby Park in Nottinghamshire for its 11th year, on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September.

The family-friendly festival will have over 170 street food traders, bars, and artisan producers, beautiful gift, craft and homeware stalls plus a wide-range of have-a-go activities for adults and children to take part. The hugely popular Cookery Theatre will once again have a stellar line-up of well-known faces from the culinary world.
