New funding allocation aims to better support children
Did you know that Nottinghamshire devolves funding to meet the needs of children with special education needs and disabilities, outside of the education, health and care plan process?
This approach is well established here and driven by listening to education settings and adapting funding models to be more equitable and to respond to local needs.

Reverse jobs fair reaps rewards for interns
West Nottinghamshire College’s supported internship team, in conjunction with Nottinghamshire County Council, recently held a jobs fair with a difference.
A reverse jobs fair sees the standard model of a job fair turned on its head.
In June, a fresh way of seeking job opportunities for more than 20 current and previous students from the college’s supported internship programmes saw interns displaying their top skills, evidence of previous work placements and experience, along with photographs of them in a range of roles.
Employers were able to visit each student to offer constructive criticism on their current CVs, ask them more about their skills within certain industry areas as well as offer appointments for job trials, interviews and mentorship.

Preparing for adulthood events resounding success
Earlier this year, we held the first joint Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) event between the Nottinghamshire County and Nottingham City councils to support young people's transition to adulthood. Showcasing resources and opportunities tailored for young people with EHCPs and their families as they prepare for life's next stages. Attendees were able to gather insights into further education, day services, and more.
Ninety-three per cent of responders from Notts learners stated they found the event helpful, emphasising its role in clarifying the path towards employment and independent living. Parents and carers expressed newfound confidence and appreciation for the extensive information and contacts gained.

Help us to improve the community directory
If you have used Notts Help Yourself and / or ASKLiON community directories, we want to know what you think about them and your suggestions about how they could be improved.
We are developing a new online community directory for Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and local NHS services. It will provide up-to-date information on services, groups and activities across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and your feedback is vital to help make sure it delivers what people tell us they need.
We really want to hear from you. Please take just a few minutes to answer a short survey. You have until Monday, 5 August, to complete it.
