Nottinghamshire residents and businesses urged to remain vigilant following floods
Nottinghamshire residents are being urged to remain vigilant as our communities continue to recover from the extensive flooding and disruption caused by Storm Babet.
A major incident was declared in the county at the weekend following the heavy rainfall, which caused rivers and streams to burst their banks – leaving many homes and businesses under water.
The severe weather presented the Nottinghamshire Local Resilience Forum (LRF) – a multi-agency partnership made up of local authorities and emergency services – with complex and challenging situations to tackle and overcome.

Have your say on Nottinghamshire Family Hubs
People are being asked for their views on plans to change the future use of Nottinghamshire’s children’s centre buildings to Family Hubs. These hubs would provide a variety of help and support to families across Nottinghamshire.
Family Hubs will provide joined up services to help families support their children from conception through to late adolescence.
Councillor Tracey Taylor, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: "We want families in Nottinghamshire to have the support they need when they need it. Family Hubs are about making sure that families can easily access advice, help and support.

Celebrating helping the county get out and about
Volunteers across Nottinghamshire are being celebrated for all their dedication to helping others as part of Community Transport Week, which ran from 16 to 21 October.
Nottinghamshire currently has 400 volunteer drivers providing support as part of the county council’s grant aided Community Transport Schemes, and last year, they made nearly 41,000 trips to help others.
Nottinghamshire County Council’s support for Community Transport car and minibus schemes relies on members of the public volunteering their own time to transport members of the public around the county and help them remain independent. The service is available to those who cannot use public transport due to their age, disability or where there’s limited access to public transport.

Still plenty to do this half-term
Families will be spoilt for choice with the events and activities that are on offer across Nottinghamshire this October half-term. Nottinghamshire County Council has taken the stress out of planning days out by rounding up some of the fun to help keep the kids entertained.
There’s lots on offer, from meeting Mickey and Minnie to trick or treat trails, or how about an adventure holiday club, a day in life of an astronaut or enjoying the light extravaganza that is the Spectacle of Light? All ages are catered for and won’t cost ‘an arm and a leg’.
Why not #BusIt around the county for only £2 fare, which has now been extended until 2024. There’s no better way to #ExploreNotts, so make the ‘ghost’ of it!
