Celebrate Notts Day at this year's Robin Hood Festival!
It's now August which means school holidays are in full swing, hoping for the sunny weather to return, and, most importantly (to us, anyway!), Notts Day is just around the corner!
There are less than four weeks to go until we celebrate our wonderful county, marking the official Notts Day on Friday 25 August.
We'll be following Notts Day itself with a special event at Sherwood Forest on Saturday 26 August from 10am - 4pm as part of the annual Robin Hood Festival.
Read on to find out more about what's happening at Robin Hood Festival this summer, the exciting arena combat show you can see at our Notts Day celebration, and how we are revelling in all that is great about our county, its history and its people this summer.
The annual celebration of everyone’s favourite outlaw is underway
Sherwood Forest is hosting the 37th Robin Hood Festival every weekend throughout the summer holiday, culminating in a bank holiday extravaganza which includes a special celebration of Notts Day.
The fabulous Knights of Nottingham ride into the forest on 4 August for a whole weekend of their twice-daily spectacular Medieval jousting show. They’ll be joined by the hilarious Medieval Maniax, entertainers Bill Brookman, What A Palaver and Nathaniel Bagshot and much more.
The 11 - 13 August weekend is devoted to the flora and fauna of Nottinghamshire’s only National Nature Reserve, when the RSPB will be joined by other conservation organisations, including the Wildlife Trust and Plantlife, for activities, talks and demonstrations.
Step back to the time of the Wars of the Roses on 19 and 20 August with a host of re-enactment groups heading to Sherwood to recreate one of the bloodiest eras of English history.
Finally, on Saturday 26 August, we're celebrating Nottinghamshire Day! There will be a full day of family-friendly activities, with the superb Sherwood Outlaws taking centre stage in the arena for an exciting battle re-enactments - you can read a bit more about that below.
The special Notts Day event will be bookended by activities throughout the August Bank Holiday Weekend to mark the finale of this year's Robin Hood Festival.
Admission to performances is free, although parking charges will apply and there will be a charge for some activities. Please check the website for more details as these will vary.

Nottinghamshire Day
Nottinghamshire Day (or #NottsDay) is an opportunity to celebrate the identity, heritage, culture, and local traditions of our county. It is a way to champion our local communities, to better understand and celebrate the histories and traditions of the places we live, work and enjoy in our leisure time.
Nottinghamshire Day takes place every year on the 25 August as this date marks the anniversary of the start of the English Civil War, an event triggered by Charles I raising the royal standard at Nottingham Castle in 1642.
This year, we're celebrating with a special event on Saturday 26 August as part of Robin Hood Festival.

The Sherwood Outlaws Battle for the Greenwood
Notts Outdoors and The Sherwood Outlaws are returning to this year’s Notts Day celebrations with an exciting combat show, Battle for the Greenwood.
Friar tuck has gone missing, important deeds for the Greenwood have vanished and it seems the Sheriff of Nottingham has hatched a new and cunning plan to claim Sherwood Forest for his own!
Robin and the outlaws will need all the help they can get to stop this new threat to the Greenwood.
Make sure you catch the double-part combat show at the Notts Day celebrations on Saturday 26 August at 11am and 3.30pm in the main arena!
