Smoking survey: Have your say
The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Smoking and Tobacco Alliance, which is made up of partners across the city and county, wants to see smoking amongst adults reduced to 5% or lower by 2035. The Tobacco Alliance wants to make the harms related to smoking a thing of the past for our next generation, so that those born in 2022 are still non-smokers by their 18th birthday in 2040.
The Tobacco Alliance wants to find out who smokes or vapes and why, what being smokefree means to you and how you feel about smoking in your community. You can take part if you are aged 16 and over and live in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire. You could be someone who smokes, vapes or doesn’t do either. The survey closes on 30 June.

Staying safe this summer
As the high temperatures appear to be sticking around, it’s important that you look after yourself and those who are vulnerable and struggle when it’s really hot - the very young, older people, those with underlying health conditions like respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses, and our pets by:
- Keeping curtains/blinds closed to keep rooms cool
- Drinking plenty of water or squash to keep hydrated
- Keeping in touch with vulnerable friends, family and neighbours to check on their welfare
- Wearing sunscreen, eye protection and staying in the shade if you venture outside

Junior doctors’ strike
The junior doctors’ strike is taking place between 7am on 14 June and 7am on 17 June.
NHS organisations across the city and county are urging everyone to attend their appointments unless they are contacted. If the strike means your appointment has to be cancelled, your hospital, GP or other health provider will contact you directly to make alternative arrangements.
- Please use A&E or call 999 if you are facing life threatening illness or injury. Your NHS is here for you when you need it – especially if you or your loved ones become seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.
- If your relative is due to be discharged from hospital and needs to be collected, please do whatever you can to help bring them home as early as possible. This will help our teams to free-up a hospital bed for someone waiting to be admitted.
- The quickest way to receive medical help is via NHS111 online, but you can also use your GP, pharmacy or urgent treatment centre.
- Pharmacies can offer over-the-counter advice and treat common illnesses such as colds, sore throats, stings and allergies.
