NSAB training offers

Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Adults Board has the following learning opportunities available:

Disclosure and Barring Service Workshops

DBS

NSAB is working with the Disclosure & Barring Service’s Regional Outreach Adviser to the East Midlands, Lizzie Whittington, to offer you a two-workshop series covering essential learning around DBS products and services and what you need to know to apply the learning in your organisation. These 90-minute workshops are ideal for those working in or supporting the Adult Care sector, particularly with recruitment or safeguarding responsibilities and while it is beneficial to attend both sessions, you can choose to attend one as a standalone event.

NSAB training attendance

let us know

Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Adults Board delivers a variety of relevant courses to support your learning, confidence, and practice in safeguarding adults in Nottinghamshire.

Since 2016 we have been providing learning opportunities for professionals across the partnership at no cost.

We have facilitated learning sessions by: Equation, NICE, POhWER, Disclosure & Barring Service, Rough Sleepers, Police, and Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.

However, whilst we are still getting high demand for spaces on courses, and we are being fully booked, these numbers are not reflected by attendees who log on to the live course session.

If you have booked onto one of NSAB’s courses and you are longer able or no longer wish to attend, please go to your booking on Eventbrite and cancel your place. We can then allocate that space to someone who will attend.

We wish to continue providing courses at minimal or no cost to attendees and organisations and would greatly appreciate your support with ensuring that you and your colleagues attend those courses you have booked with us to enable us to continue providing specialised learning relevant to safeguarding adults with no cost.

Persons in Positions of Trust (PiPoT)

Nottinghamshire safeguarding Adults Board has a new guidance document available.

The Care Act 2014 recognises that safeguarding concerns are not always in relation to the safety and wellbeing of an individual, and that they also pertain to the possible risk posed more widely by a person in a position of trust to adults with care and support needs.

The purpose of the guidance is to:

  • Advise employers/volunteer organisations and student bodies of their responsibilities as set out in the Care Act 2014, to assess potential risks posed by a person in a position of trust to those who use their services, and, if necessary, to take action to prevent abuse or neglect.
  • Provide guidance by which concerns about a person in a position of trust can be appropriately shared with an employer/volunteer organisation or student body to prevent abuse or neglect.

This guidance is designed to inform and support the decision-making of Board member organisations and wider partner agencies once they become aware of a concern within the scope of this guidance.
