Additional ‘Thank you’ Payments
To recognise the commitment of sponsors / hosts who continue to accommodate their Ukrainian guests, we are offering additional monthly ‘Thank You’ payments.
This is a discretionary increase to the optional ‘Thank You’ payment of £350 per month, per accommodation.
This means that an extra payment of £75 per month, per guest, hosted between 1 October 2022 and 31 March 2023.
Payments are available to all sponsors / hosts. These will be made monthly in arrears and will be back-dated.

We are aware the period for additional payments is coming to an end and we are considering the best options to support hosts moving forward.

Driving in the UK
Ukrainian guests with a valid Ukrainian driving license can continue to drive in the UK without exchanging their licence for 12 months, after becoming a resident.
After 12 months they must exchange their licence to keep driving.
Please keep in mind the following guidance:
- If you passed your driving test before 28 December 2021 you can only exchange your driving licence for a UK licence that allows you to drive automatic vehicles.
- If you passed your driving test on or after 28 December 2021 and if your current licence allows you to drive manual vehicles, you can exchange it for a UK licence that allows you to drive manual vehicles.

If you want to learn to drive whilst you are in the UK, you will need to take a driving test which consists of two parts: theory test and practical driving test.

Social meeting in Bassetlaw
Homes for Ukraine Bassetlaw Support Group invites Ukrainian guests and their hosts to a social meeting on Saturday 25 March at 11:00am.
The meeting will take place at The Time Machine in Retford, Chapelgate, Union Street, DN22 6LB.

Ukrainian Easter Egg workshop
A series of Ukrainian Easter Egg workshops will be held at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Nottingham. All materials for the unique egg painting technique will be provided. All funds raised will go to support Ukraine.

On Saturday 1 April at 6:30pm prior to the workshop, a special guest (Victoria Hayward) will be giving an insight into her 100 eggs for Ukraine fundraising project.
Children (7 years or over ) may take part, but it is essential an accompanying adult takes responsibility and supervision over the child because we are going to be working with candles and hot wax.
Please bring an egg box with you, so that you can take home your beautiful pysanky safely!
Afternoon High Tea for Ukrainians in Mansfield
The Mansfield Rotary Club are hosting a St. George’s Day Afternoon High Tea event in support of Ukrainians and their host families.
Date: Sunday 23 April 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Venue: Civic Corner Café which is situated within the Civic Centre on Chesterfield Road, Mansfield NG19 7BH.
The event will include afternoon tea and entertainment. Tickets are free but limited to local guests and hosts.
Family Chess club
A family chess club taster session is held at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre for all those interested in the game. Basic knowledge is of benefit. All children from the age of eight and their grown-ups are welcome. It's free!
Primary language of instruction is Ukrainian.
Dates and times of regular sessions will be confirmed later.
No booking is required for this session.

Home Office Outreach Sessions
The Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Nottingham continues to provide regular sessions to support newly arrived families and their hosts.
If you have any questions regarding visas, immigration issues or BRPs, please attend one of these sessions by the Home Office, alongside other services such as DWP, Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council, employment advisers and charities.

Local Communities Fund – Homes for Ukraine
Nottinghamshire County Council understands the important role of charity and community groups supporting Ukrainian arrivals. Under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, it has been agreed that an initial allocation of £100,000 is increased to £200,000 to support the work in the Nottinghamshire area.
Nottinghamshire County Council welcomes proposals up to a maximum of £5,000 per application. Applications are invited from community organisations supporting people who have arrived in Nottinghamshire as part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
Examples of the kind activities that may be supported include:
- Supporting English language classes.
- Employment support.
- Activities for children and young people.
- Advice and support on financial matters.
- Tackling loneliness and isolation through for example befriending schemes and support networks.
- Promoting health and well-being.
- Organising community events.
- Supporting and encouraging volunteering.

Thank you payments to hosts
To help us get support to guests as soon as possible please remember to notify us once your guest has arrived by calling 0300 500 8080 option 5. Once you have confirmed their arrival, we'll send a request for your bank details via a secure Nottinghamshire County Council email address.
The email will provide you with a safe link to provide your bank details. It is important that you respond to this as soon as possible so we can arrange your payments.
Please do not provide your bank details via any other route
You will also need to make sure that you complete the declaration form below. Once these have been completed Nottinghamshire County Council will be able to make your payment as per the timetable below. Payments will be made in arrears into the bank account details provided.
If you have a guest move in with you at any time in March 2023, please make sure that you notify us by Friday 17 March 2023.
The principles of the table below will be applied to each month. A host who has a guest move in with them anytime in January will be provided with their ‘thank you’ payment at the end of February.
