Cold weather alert in place for Nottinghamshire
It's time to wrap up warm folks, as more cold weather is on its way!
From Monday 6 March, a Met Office Cold Weather Alert will be in place across Nottinghamshire until Thursday 9 March. So, what should you expect?
Well, the alert brings a warning of below average temperatures, both day and night, a widespread frost and wintry showers, plus there's also some talk of snow, so we're here to refresh your winter preparedness and help you to stay safe and well during the colder spell.
How can I stay safe on the roads?
First things first, when it comes to wintry conditions, it's important to stay safe, and one of the best ways to do this on the roads is to make sure that both you and your car are prepared for whatever the conditions may bring.
For you, this means making sure that your car is stocked with winter essentials such as a scraper, de-icer, a blanket, sturdy footwear and warm clothes to name a few.
For your car, getting from A to B safely in winter conditions means carrying out a few checks including your tyre pressures, your battery, antifreeze and screen wash.
We've got a handy guide to all things winter and your vehicle on our website, so make sure to read our advice in full on our website.

How can I keep up-to-date with travel advice?
When it comes to weather, conditions and forecasts can change, so it's a good idea to:
- tune into your local radio station for travel updates,
- follow us on social media for gritting updates,
- check your local forecast on the met office website.
During times of severe weather, we will also give updates on our disruption website page, so don't forget to check this also!
How can I look after others?
Some people can be more vulnerable to cold weather, so it's a good idea to look out for friends, relatives and neighbours and make sure that they have access to warm food and drinks and that they are managing to heat their homes adequately.
The Met Office also advise to avoid exposing yourself to cold or icy outdoor conditions if you are at a higher risk of cold-related illness or falls.

How will you be keeping Notts safe and moving?
If you've not heard about our amazing gritting teams, it's never too late to learn about the fantastic work that they do to keep you safe throughout winter.
When the forecast says that road temperatures will be at zero degrees or below, our gritting teams go out to salt the roads.
A lot of their work is done during the hours when the rest of us are tucked up at home asleep, so we would like to say a big thank you to #TeamGrit for all of the work that they do to keep us safe.
