LED streetlights change-over brings huge wins
Our Cabinet has just signed off the final stages of a decade long-project to change nearly all of the streetlights in Nottinghamshire’s seven district and borough council areas.
An investment of £2.1m will see 11,000 old lanterns in Bassetlaw and Newark and Sherwood districts changed to new carbon-saving LED bulbs, with works scheduled to finish in April 2023.
We started this mammoth county-wide project in 2014, with the LED streetlight conversions fully completed in Broxtowe, Mansfield and Ashfield last year.

Don’t miss out on free healthy food
As more families feel the strain of cost-of-living pressures, the County Council is urging eligible people to use the Healthy Start scheme.
1458 families who qualify for Healthy Start in Nottinghamshire are currently missing out on free fruit, vegetables and milk.
Healthy Start offers funds worth £4.25 a week to pregnant women and children (0 – 4 years) who are in low-income families, as well as to all pregnant women under 18. Funds can be used to buy fruit, vegetables, milk and, if you are not breastfeeding, infant formula. Eligible families with a baby under the age of one receive £8.50 a week.

Nottinghamshire military museum takes delivery of iconic British tank
A Nottinghamshire military museum has taken delivery of an iconic British tank as part of a special restoration project.
The Royal Lancers & Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum at Thoresby Park, near OIlerton, is the new temporary home of the FV 214 Conqueror – one of the heaviest tanks produced in this country.
It was transported to the attraction from the Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset on Tuesday before a painstaking four-hour operation saw it manoeuvred into place on a specially created concrete plinth.
Now volunteers at the museum will spend the next few months giving the tank – which saw service between 1955 and 1966 – a fresh new look ahead of a special unveiling that is expected to take place next spring.
