Consultation begins on refreshing Notts’ visitor economy
Thousands of visitor attractions, local businesses and suppliers in Nottinghamshire are being urged to have their say on the future of the county's important visitor economy.
An online consultation led by Nottinghamshire County Council to refresh our visitor economy strategy started Monday 5 September and closes on Friday 14 October.
The visitor economy includes traditional tourism but also encompasses everything in the supply chain that attracts visitors to Nottinghamshire – including construction, farming and sport – and the infrastructure that supports it.

Care home staff to get booster at work as eligible groups urged to get a jab this autumn
Social care staff from across Nottinghamshire have put forward their views to help shape the local Covid-19 vaccination strategy.
The survey found that many social care staff would like the opportunity to have the Covid-19 vaccination at their place of work. Many residents - including vital social care staff - have busy lives and finding time to get vaccinated between work and family commitments can be challenging.
Based on the feedback received, the Council’s Public Health Team has made arrangements for staff working in care homes for older adults to have the chance to get vaccinated while at work this autumn. The programme will be delivered by the Mobile Vaccination Team.

School works programme worth £9.5m unveiled
A major and ambitious programme of school infrastructure improvements worth £9.5m has been unveiled by Nottinghamshire County Council.
Twenty-three primary and infant schools will benefit over the next two years in a multi-million-pound investment from the council’s School Building Improvement Programme (SBIP), designed and delivered by Arc Partnership, a joint venture between the council and SCAPE.
Each Nottinghamshire borough or district has at least two schools receiving infrastructure improvements, with all works scheduled for completion by the start of the 2024/2025 academic year.

Nottinghamshire residents urged to take on the One-Bag Challenge
As part of this year’s Zero Waste Week Nottinghamshire launched the One-Bag Challenge, to encourage people across the county to really stop and think about how much rubbish they accumulate over the course of a seven-day period. Nottinghamshire County Council and its waste and recycling partner Veolia shared plenty of useful tips and tricks on how people can reduce their rubbish down to a single bag.

Tour of Britain stage winner receives trophy designed by Nottinghamshire schoolgirl
A jubilant schoolgirl from East Leake has told of her excitement at seeing the winning cyclist of the Nottinghamshire stage of the AJ Bell Tour of Britain race receive his winner’s trophy designed by her.
Robyn Thurgood, 10, who attends Costock C of E Primary School, won Nottinghamshire County Council’s design the winning trophy competition, which was developed in partnership with its partners Arc Partnership and SCAPE.

Flag competition winner Emilia's excitement at waving off Tour of Britain cyclists
A delighted Market Warsop schoolgirl has spoken of her joy after winning a special competition which saw her officially start the Nottinghamshire stage of the AJ Bell Tour of Britain cycle race.
Talented Emilia Wood, nine, a Year 5 pupil at Birklands Primary School, was the lucky winner of Nottinghamshire County Council’s design the starting flag competition for children – which saw her wave off some of the world’s most famous cyclists at West Bridgford using the flag she designed.
