We are saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and would like to offer our sincerest condolences to the Royal Family.
We are proud that The Queen visited Nottinghamshire on a number of occasions during her reign including during her Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977 where she opened Mansfield Library, attended a test match at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground and officially opened the Queen's Medical Centre.
As a mark of respect, a minute's silence will be held across the nation at 8pm on Sunday 18 September ahead of the state funeral on Monday 19 September, which has been declared as a bank holiday.

Commemorative events in Nottinghamshire
On Sunday 11 September, The Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, led the county's proclamation services in which King Charles III was formally announced as The King.
The Lord Lieutenant will also be leading a special service of commemoration at Southwell Minster on Sunday 18 September.

Signing the book of condolence
We know that you may wish to pay your respects to The Queen by leaving a written message for The Royal Family.
A national book of condolence is available on the Royal Family's website and there is also an in-person book at County Hall.
The book at County Hall is available Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
Books of condolence are also available to sign at other civic buildings across Nottinghamshire. For details, please check with your local district, borough, town or parish council.

Leaving floral tributes
On Friday 9 September, The Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, the High Sheriff, Paul Southby, our Leader, Councillor Ben Bradley MP, our Chairman, Councillor Roger Jackson, and Acting Chief Executive Adrian Smith laid floral tributes to Her Majesty The Queen outside County Hall.
If you wish to leave your own flowers, there is a designated flower laying area in front of the war memorial plaque, at the left hand side of the Loughborough Road entrance to County Hall.
We ask that if you are laying flowers that you please remove the plastic wrapping from them as this will help with the composting process once the mourning period is over.

Changes to council services on Monday 19 September
The Government has announced that there will be an additional bank holiday on Monday 19 September to mark the occasion of the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Due to this, a number of council services will not be open or operating, so that council employees can join the rest of the country in paying their respects to Her Majesty The Queen.
