£5.6m Drugs Strategy investment for Notts
Nottinghamshire is set to receive a £5.6m funding boost over the next three years to implement the government’s 10 year Drugs Strategy: From Harm to Hope and procure inpatient detoxification beds.
As part of the Strategy, upper tier local authorities are required to provide additional detoxification places and increase the number and quality of places within substance misuse treatment services for young people, adults, children affected by parent substance misuse and those who are in the criminal justice system.

Boost for local facilities thanks to latest round of community funding
Fourteen community groups and charities are set to share almost £170,000 to help improve local facilities such as sports clubs, play parks and community centres.
It’s all part of Nottinghamshire County Council’s ongoing commitment to encourage healthy and thriving communities as the county continues its recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Young drivers accelerate road safety in Notts
Young people aged between 15 and 17 have had their first taste of life behind the wheel thanks to a road safety initiative offered by Via East Midlands in partnership with the county council.
The pre-driver training course sees young people be able to drive a car in a safe, controlled environment with fully qualified instructors, to embed road safety principles before they are able to begin driving lessons.

‘A milestone moment’ for new homes and jobs in Notts
Major plans for a proposed new village near Hucknall have moved a step closer to reality today with the official appointment of a new housing developer.
Vistry Partnerships will now take on the building of approx. 800 homes at the planned new village at Top Wighay, as part of a multi-million pound agreement and one of the biggest ever development contracts for Nottinghamshire County Council

Time to celebrate the achievements of Notts young people!
The search has begun for Nottinghamshire’s inspirational young people as the 4Uth Award nominations are now open.
The 4Uth Awards seek to recognise the achievements of young people aged 11-19 (or up to 25 if disabled) from all seven districts of the county. Previous winners have often overcome major challenges in their lives, such as bereavement, trauma and illness, and have raised thousands for charity, cared for friends or relatives, and helped others.

Social media design competition for young people in Notts launches today
Nottinghamshire County Council has launched a social media competition today to raise awareness and understanding amongst young people of the importance of Covid-19 vaccination in helping us all to live safely with Covid-19.
Young people aged 16-25 in Nottinghamshire are being asked to channel their creativity and design innovative promotional material. Entries may include a variety of art forms such as a short video or a piece of graphic design, to help raise awareness of the Covid-19 vaccination for young people and to encourage them to consider getting vaccinated.
