 Arnold Lane closure in place until Summer 2022
You may remember from our last bulletin that a full closure of Arnold Lane has been in place since 23 March between its junction with Mapperley Plains and Linsdale Gardens. This closure was always planned once Colliery Way was open to traffic and will connect Arnold Lane to the new five-arm roundabout.
Construction teams have started work on this next phase of the scheme, and a 400m section of Arnold Lane has been taken up. Earthworks are also progressing well to form the new road where Arnold Lane is being realigned to connect onto Colliery Way.
As part of these works, the junction of Arnold Lane / Mapperley Plains / Gedling Road will be upgraded, and so temporary three-way traffic lights will be in operation throughout the closure. You may have noticed that the traffic refuges on Mapperley Plains have been changed and relocated, which is all part of the junction upgrade and refurbishment.
Diversion routes are also in place using Colliery Way, the A612 and Colwick Loop Road, and we have installed additional signage to show these routes, particularly around Victoria Retail Park. The signs showing the approved diversion route from Gedling Village now have a square symbol, and the signs showing the approved diversion route from Mapperley Plains have a triangular symbol.
Remember, pedestrian access is being maintained along Arnold Lane via the existing footpath adjacent to the golf course so you can still walk through from Gedling Village to Mapperley Plains.

We've heard that some traffic wishing to travel towards Gedling Village from Mapperley Plains is using Nottingham Road to make a U-turn and then travel onto Burton Road.
Until the new tie in with Colliery Way and Arnold Lane opens from the new five-arm roundabout, local traffic, excluding HGVs, can exit Colliery Way at the Lambley Lane junction as an alternative to travelling to the end of Colliery Way and then making a U-turn on Nottingham Road.

Even though Colliery Way is now open to traffic, we're not quite ready to say goodbye to you and these bulletins just yet!
While works on the final phase are ongoing, our regular updates will be too!
Next month we will be providing details of resurfacing works that are being planned around the Arnold Lane junction. These will include the junction area, a section of Gedling Road and parts of Plains Road down towards Westdale Lane West.
