Section of Mapperley Plains to be closed for seven nights
Works on the Gedling Access Road have continued to accelerate into 2022, and we would like to update you on the next phase of traffic management that is required.
From 8pm on Tuesday 25 January, a night-time closure will be in place on Mapperley Plains between the traffic-signalled junction with Plains Road/Arnold Lane/Gedling Road and the junction with Chartwell Grove.
This closure will last for seven nights and will be in place each night from 8pm until 5am the next morning. Please note that the road will be open during the daytime, and that access for pedestrians will be maintained throughout the closure.
This closure will be in place so that our construction teams can safely complete the removal of the existing road surface and the laying of a new surfacing layer to tie the existing and the newly widened areas of the carriageway to the new GAR junction.
Please note that during the closure, access will be maintained for residents of Chartwell Grove, Clementine Drive, Winston Close and Spencer Avenue, with a traffic marshal in place to escort vehicles through the closure point.
We would like to thank you for your ongoing support and patience whilst we carry out works to construct the new road.
The closure of this section of Mapperley Plains will mean that motorists cannot use it as a through route. Due to this, a diversion route will be in place.
Travelling from Nottingham:
Travel via Arnold Lane, Lambley Lane (including the open section of the GAR) and Spring Lane.
Travelling towards Nottingham:
Travel via Spring Lane, Lambley Lane (including the open section of the GAR) and Arnold Lane.

Due to the weight restriction on Lambley Lane, an alternative diversion route for HGVs will be in place.
Travelling from Nottingham:
Travel via Gedling Road, Arno Vale Road, A60 Mansfield Road, and A614 Ollerton Road.
Travel towards Nottingham:
Travel via A614 Ollerton Road, A60 Mansfield Road, Arno Vale Road and Gedling Road.

Please note that this closure will affect passengers travelling on Nottingham City Transport's 46 and 47 services.
Services towards Woodborough/Lambley:
All 46 and 47 services leaving Nottingham after 7:55pm from 25 January through the duration of the closure will divert via Gedling Road, Ramsey Drive and Coppice Road before continuing their normal routes.
Services towards Nottingham:
All 46 and 47 services leaving Lambley or Woodborough after 8:16pm from 25 January through the duration of the closure will divert onto Coppice Road, Ramsey Drive and Gedling Road before continuing their normal routes.
