We have been working hard to update the foster carer handbook as it moves across to the new online platform Tri.X. This will be ready to share with you in the new year and we will add the link to the foster carers website as soon as it has been finalised.
Well done to the Children in Care Council whose team recently won the night time orienteering competition, “Shadow.” Shadow is an annual overnight navigation and team event coordinated by Nottinghamshire County Council’s Youth Service and Notts Outdoors, aimed at teams of young people aged between 13 and 19 from all over the county.
The Clinical Commissioning Group [CCG] for Looked after Childrens team are working with the Oral Health promotion team within Notts Healthcare Trust. The Team are offering to support all LAC and Homes across the entire CCG (County and City) with promoting oral health.
The team have devised a training package of 4 short modules to improve carers knowledge and skills around oral health for LAC. There will also be some free resources made available to those children who originate from Notts City or County Local Authorities.
This is an exciting opportunity to link social and health care together. Please can foster carers complete the questionnaire which will support the creation of the training modules.

We are pleased to have been recognised by The Fostering Network as a Fostering Friendly employer, showing that we enable employees to balance their work with looking after children, supporting and recognising the roles of our employees who foster.
If you are a current NCC employee, please speak to your supervising social worker about how you may be able to benefit from these changes.
