 Let’s help to keep loved ones safe this festive period
Don't take any unwanted gifts with you. Take a free rapid lateral flow test before you travel, to help keep everyone as safe as possible, and help slow the spread of Covid-19.
About 1 in 3 people with Covid-19 do not have symptoms but can still infect others. If your lateral flow test is positive you should get a PCR test as soon as possible.
Research shows rapid tests are a reliable test for Covid-19. They give a quick result and do not need to be sent to a lab.
Christmas opening hours for testing sites in Nottinghamshire
Community testing sites for rapid lateral flow tests will close at 2pm on Friday 24th December. They will also be closed 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th December 2021, and closed again 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th January 2022.
Symptomatic testing sites will remain open over the festive period, with some changes to opening hours on key dates:
- 25 and 26 December 10am-2pm
- 1 January 10am-2pm
- All other days 8am-6pm
Every adult in the country needs to get a Covid-19 booster vaccine because two doses do not give you enough protection against catching Omicron.
A record number of vaccinations were administered in Nottinghamshire and Nottingham last week, with more than 85,000 people receiving a life-saving jab.
You can book your booster by calling 119 or visiting the NHS website. Or, you can grab a jab at the following walk-in venues:
- The Richard Herrod Leisure Centre – Foxhill Rd, Carlton, Nottingham NG4 1RL
- The Victoria Health Centre – Glasshouse St, Nottingham NG1 3LW
- The Newark Showground – Lincoln Rd, Coddington, Newark NG24 2NY
Walk-in sites are open 9.30am-4.30pm, seven days a week. Please note these sites will not be open on 25 and 26 December and will re-open on 27 December. For a list of Covid-19 vaccination site opening times over Christmas and New Year, visit the NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG website.
If you are unable to access public transport to get to your local vaccination centre, you may be eligible to use Community Transport instead.

It's never too late to get protected. If you want your first or second dose, you can use a walk-in vaccination site without an appointment. With Christmas just around the corner, it’s a good idea to make sure you have any medication or other items you need over the long Bank Holiday weekend. Check that you’ve got enough of everything so that you’re not in danger of running short.
During this season of goodwill, why not look in on any older or more vulnerable neighbours who may be isolating, on their own, or just unable to get out and about very easily. You could wrap up warm for a covid-safe Christmas catch-up in a well-ventilated area.

The guidance for self-isolation has changed, and you now may be able to leave isolation after seven days.
You can take a lateral flow test from the sixth day of isolation and then another at least 24 hours later. If both tests are negative and you do not have a high temperature you can end your self-isolation period after the second test.
However, if you test positive on day six or seven, you can re-test yourself later during the 10-day period.
You can leave self-isolation when you have had two negative tests, at least 24 hours apart, on consecutive days – for example, on days 7 and 8, or days 8 and 9, or days 9 and 10.

If you're fully vaccinated
Fully vaccinated contacts of someone with Covid-19 should take rapid lateral flow tests every day for seven days. If you test positive or develop symptoms, you need to follow the updated self-isolation rules.
If you're unvaccinated
Unvaccinated adults are not eligible for this new daily testing policy. They must self-isolate for 10 days if they are a contact of someone who tests positive for Covid-19 – Omicron or not – unless eligible for an existing workplace daily contact testing.

Dozens of Nottinghamshire charities and projects which are providing support to vulnerable residents are set to receive almost £900,000.
Almost 40 organisations will share £610,182 from the Covid-19 Partnership Social Recovery Fund and £282,817 from the Community Hub Food Plan Fund to help them continue their vital work providing a lifeline to those hardest hit by the pandemic, including tackling loneliness, mental health support and providing food for struggling families.

To help identify potential support for the local hospitality, retail and tourism sectors, the Visit Nottinghamshire team is asking relevant businesses to share experiences of how the Covid-19 ‘Plan B’ may have impacted them, by completing two surveys by 10 January 2022.
This insight will help the team lobby MPs and the Government, and give feedback to VisitBritain/VisitEngland.
