Social care challenge: we are in this together

As you may be aware, we are facing unprecedented circumstances in our adult social care services due to critical staff shortages nationally and a high level of demand. The situation is affecting the whole country, and Nottinghamshire is no exception.

It is also affecting the organisations that work on our behalf to deliver care across the country. They too are doing everything possible to attract, recruit, train and retain staff members to meet this high demand.

You may already know that the Covid pandemic has placed a lot of pressure on our hospitals and healthcare system. And the impact is being felt in our social care services now, particularly as more people have an increased need for our support to continue to live safe and independent lives.

With this in mind, we sincerely ask for your patience both with us and the organisations working tirelessly to increase the available care capacity.

Please know that we are committed to you now more than ever, and our highest priority remains to keep you safe and healthy. However, there will be times when:

  • care and support arrangements will need to be prioritised
  • carers will run late
  • carers may be unable to spend their allotted time with you
  • you may see different carers than usual

We want to reassure you that we are doing everything within our power to manage this situation and support our providers to deliver good quality care.

Considering this, we ask that if you have family members or friends that can support you over the next few months while we handle these challenges, please call on them where needed.

If you can help, please contact us on 0300 500 80 80 or via our website and let us know what support you’re able to offer, no matter how small.

Our deepest thanks for your ongoing patience, cooperation, and support as we work to ensure that the people of Nottinghamshire continue to have good quality health and wellbeing.

If making immediate contact with us, please find a list of the CSC’s opening hours during the Christmas and New Year period below. However, normal hours of contact will continue from January 4, 2022.
