Keeping safe in Nottinghamshire this half term!
Half term starts next week in Nottinghamshire from Monday 18 October - Friday 29 November. Whilst this is a time to relax with the family, explore new places (have you seen our What's On highlights?), visit your favourite restaurants, and do some fun Halloween activities, we'd like to remind you to keep you and your loved ones safe over the next two weeks.
If you're out and about with the kids, remember to wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day. This is an effective way to reduce your risk of catching illnesses, including Covid-19. If you're travelling by public transport, or in a crowded place, please consider wearing a face covering. In addition, if you're spending more time indoors due to the weather, please think about ventilation and let in plenty of fresh air.
Although schools are closed, regular testing over half term remains essential to keep each other safe and help stop coronavirus spread. Therefore, parents and carers should encourage secondary aged children to continue testing during the half term holiday.
All of this will help to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and protect your friends and family.
A Covid-19 booster vaccine gives you longer-term protection against getting seriously ill from Covid-19.
Those eligible for a booster dose of the vaccine include people aged 50 and over, people aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts them at high risk of getting seriously ill from Covid-19 and health and social care workers. In addition, pregnant women in one of the eligible groups can also get a booster dose.
Are you a frontline health or social care worker? You can book your Covid-19 booster vaccine dose on the NHS website. Other eligible people are urged to book an appointment as soon as they are invited to do so.
Among those who have had their booster vaccine is 90-year-old William Andrews, who had his vaccination at Trentside Medical Centre in Netherfield. Find out more about his experience and why he had the booster vaccine.

The Government’s travel red list has now been reduced to seven destinations; Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.
Fully vaccinated passengers travelling from other countries that aren’t on the red list no longer need to quarantine in a hotel and only need to take a day two test in England.
Other passengers who are not fully vaccinated with an authorised vaccine returning from a non-red destination must still take a pre-departure test, a day two test and a day eight test. They must also complete ten days of self-isolation (with the option of Test to Release on day five).
